I am happy that brands are moving a bit further to optimize properly the aerodynamics of the bike. I would be glad as well that the UCI releases a bit more the rule. At the moment, all manufacturer seems to have reach the same point and produce similar bikes (typically SL8 shapes). However, I really would like the UCI to review their rules about the fact that product they are using in race needs to be opened to public consumption. Prices of bike are rising crazy, and I really wonder how many bikes they are selling. It doesn't make sense to put it on the market if nobody can buy actually buy it due to its price. In term of beauty, obviously as the shapes are new people won't love it. But wait to see that bike in the front of the peloton and for UAE to win races and titles, and your opinion will change. That's the reason why they are sponsoring pro-cycling : for people to associate their product with performance/strength/power, even if there are actually data to back it up. It is only convincing people that to be cool, they need such a bike.

The AR5 was £2450 and wait for it, the FRD was £11,500 when the guy I bought it from, originally purchased it... If you really know your bikes then you would be well aware that the FRD has a different type of carbon frame, plus way better finishing equipment and wheels, but not £9k better! There will always be peeps who have plenty of disposable income, that are more than happy to to splash out on high end bikes or whatever... Whether or not they have the ability to ride anywhere remotely near pro or club level, will not bother them one jot...
