For me that 900ss might be the most beautiful bike ever built.

I think I agree with you there, that or a newish Panigale

Beautiful iconic bike, a great fellow member of DOCNSW who verbalises the Desmo passion so well. Beautifully shot too with all the right angles for this beauty. And I get a cameo in a shot at Wakefield Park!

Thanks Rocky, glad you like it. Mick, like many of the riders who we have interviewed for the channel does speak so well and passionately about his love of his motorcycles and there is a lot to love about that Desmo.

I had first 900 SS to reach South Carolina in 1976. I raced it successfully in the WERA series as well getting a 6th place finish at the Loudon/Laconia Superbike National. The bike always handled as if it were on rails.

Nice one, do you still have it?

Thanks Rob, Mick’s a good bloke. can’t wait for this lockdown to end so we can get out and shoot some more content although it probably gives us time to catch up in a few edits

@@BikerTorque I've been good up until the announcements today, now I'm going stir crazy. Need to ride, eat good food and see good people

I have never seen a better looking motorcycle than a bevel drive Ducati! Nothing on the market today looks as awesome. That includes new Ducati models.

It really is a timeless design. The only thing that’s on par for me is the Norton Commando and the Vincent Black Shadow

Correction: at age 40. The crank gave up at 122.000. Guy Martin in Montreal rebuilt the engine and it’s still running as strong as ever. So am I. Loved your video.

I have you beat. I bought my brand new black SS in 1980 at age 30 I sold my 77 SS Silver Blue for $2500.00 because I was sick of the Ducati stator ignition and 1980 was supposed to be the last year for Ducati. I still have it with 155,000 miles showing. I agree with everything you said about the machine. I finally bought a 2022 Monster because I crashed the SS and wouldn’t have if it had ABS. So I thought it was time. I like the Monster but after a ride on the old SS, it’s a little boring.

We’ve just had a 2023 Monster SP for a couple of weeks for review, wow what a bike, but agree those old school Ducatis are way more fun

Had a go of an MHR replica SS in 1985, with Denso instruments, rather than Veglia. I liked the long legged feel of it but much prefer the look of these earlier models. An ex policeman in my home town in Wales has one in the same colour as this gent's bike and will never sell it.

Drop the crappy music. I just wanted to hear more of howling Dell'ortos and barking Contis!
@BikerTorque2 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, thanks for watching. Unfortunately we didn’t get great sound of the bike due to wind noise, but you’ll be pleased to know we have a story with an MHR on the channel next week with some lovely sounds from the exhaust
@alansivkoff2826 ай бұрын
No conti exhausts? Best sound outside dunstall decibels on a Norton commando

Conti’s do sound good, agree.

When i was in the RAAF at Williamtown in 1981 a t Fraser Newcastle a 500 Pantah was $3500 new and Ducati MHR900 was $6999. A guy on base had a Duke 750GTS and got posted to Malaysia. That bike was left to rust away in the salty air for years.Criminal!
@BikerTorque Жыл бұрын
certainly is criminal. Question is, what were you riding in 1981?
