We just found you and binge watched every episode in the past few weeks. You brightened up a sad time in our life and brought up our memories of our 20s which were very similar to yours! We were living on St. John around the same time your parents met!! Thanks for sharing your life and your amazing talent as a storyteller and video editor!!

Old trick to unplug drains, sinks and scuppers. If you have an inflatable foot pump aboard. Stuff it in the drain with a rag around it to seal opening. And push slowly put foot pressure on the pump. Cheers

Don't you love how Holly has evolved as a storyteller and artist? She was born in New Zealand, living on a small sailboat, sailing with her family most of her life. This gives her a unique perspective that none of your sailing KZbinrs can ever match.

Wind Hippies Rule!!! This is a very good video that could be a major documentary... You remind me of my younger days, extreme sports for the love of adrenaline or 'Organic Panic' . Thrills and spills, a hint of love interest, reluctantly returned to solo sailing and murfy laws sabotage you.... "what was I thinking " yeah, I have said that to many times and expectations for a true weather forcast.... Much Aloha from Kauai!

Bird poo on the sail cover is a real pain. I tie a length of line from the mast to just above the shackle on my topping lift. The line hangs a few inches above the boom, does a good job of stopping them landing there.

Your Polynesian way is in the night sky. Read through eyes of a digital secure navigation system. Every aspect of wind & sea are described. Sail young one & avoid the southern stormy ports. 100 mph winds are for safely moored boats. Seek the life set by your own compass . But be wary of the black sails in Indonesia. You must sail to friendly ports my most adventurous one.

As an explanation my father liked to move the family from one end of Canada to the other every few years and we always drove. Spending weeks cooped up in vehicles several times as a child turned me off from them completely. I feel smothered and constricted in vehicles, except maybe convertibles.😂 I'm not claustrophobic, it's limited to cars and trucks and the like.

Our sailboat had cockpit drains that led down into the laz and out thru a skin fitting too, they get blocked often so now how we have it is .. we drilled small drainage holes along the starboard and port side of the hull towards the aft where water would sit and gather. We have 3 holes about an inch in diameter on each side and now water runs down and straight out. Hope this helps.

Lol, you believed one of our weather forecasts 😏. Looks like you had a fab time in the South Island, it's an amazing place - but I'm a little bit biased. Some of the local boats rig a line just above the boom, to make it an awkward seagull landing spot. YMMV with that, it helps, but moves the problem someplace else.
