I'm a guy and I've been going to the same waxing salon for two years and been seeing the same two women during that time (not at the same time mind you other than the first two times as one was training the other). When I first started going, I was asked if I had ever been waxed. I said once maybe 15 or so years ago by a female friend. However, that experience hurt like hell and it was hard wax. This salon uses sugar wax which is far less painful and both myself and the technicians were surprised at how well I tolerated it. I started going because shaving every so often myself down there is a far more tedious lengthy endeavor.

This does go back to the late 1970’s. There were two outstanding situations. I was working in an Elizabeth Arden salon just north of Toronto. When I took the ‘modesty towel’ off her, there she was. There! My experience was women wore a pair of panties or even an old bikini bottom. Nope! I said nothing, kept the casual conversation going and gently covered her where only the part being waxed would be exposed. Then there was this guy, on the phone, asking for a bikini wax. The possibility this could be a wacko was first and foremost in my mind. My manager took the call and said we had no male attendants and apologized.

Waxing is so old fashioned. I started getting sugared years ago. So much better. Few ingrown hairs and doesn't stick to the skin. There's no dipping and no hot product so it's safer. It's put on in the direction opposite direction of the growth and pulled out with the growth. Will never go back to waxing.
