Sorry SAS. You're wrong in this argument. College level football can't be compared to the NFL. You're just shoving away BB's greatness. All what you described Saban as, BB too had them all, especially in his case, he was coaching professional egos. Saban has done a wonderful, HoF job at Alabama. But that's college. The bottomline in the BB and TB argument is that: They complemented each other perfectly, and they both came together at the right time.

Saban was 17-15 in his first two and only years as NFL head coach. Belichick, on the other hand , went 20-28 his first three seasons with Cleveland and was fired after five seasons. Also, has a losing record, except when he had Brady at QB. He's also lost more games than any NFL coach in history. Doesn't exactly sound like a GOAT to me. @@user-nw6nf5uc5o Saban said himself that he left Miami because of the instability of his quarterback situation. Figuring things like that out is part of being a good coach. A lil adversity and he went the easier route. In college he recruited the best talent so he usually had the upper hand week end and week out. In the NFL every team you face is equally as talented. Like you said Belichick struggled his first two seasons but the difference is that he faced the challenge and figured it out while Saban had a better first two seasons than Belichick and still left for college cuz he didn't have the confidence that he could overcome that situation. More challenging.. Each year you pretty much have the same team from the year before. In college you have to replace a quarter of your starters every year. In pros you have players who have played college ball and already know how to play at a high level, In college, you get a class of high school players that have to be taught pretty much everything. In the pros, you can have one qb for years, like Brady, unlike in college where Saban won seven nattys with six different QBs. One last thought if Belichick is really the best, why does he have a losing record without Brady. If he's that good, he should have at least had a winning record with other qbs. Don't you think?

Saban was an average coach at Michigan State and LSU, when he wasn't getting the top high school players. At Alabama he signed 12 recruiting classes in his tenure as head coach at Alabama, seven of which have ranked No. 1 in the country. In college sports recruiting is more important than coaching.

Lmaoooo an “average” coach at LSU is possibly one of the most brain dead takes I’ve heard!! Do you not know how much of a graveyard LSU was in the 1990s?? They were a legitimate doormat year in and year out with only 3 BOWL APPEARANCES in 11 years!! It was a wasteland of mediocrity until 2000 when Saban got the job, and he took them to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in 4 seasons, and also laid the foundation for Les Miles and others who succeeded him. LSU is relevant today because of him!

Ppl here saying its a greater achievement and harder to coach in NFL because they face tougher opponents. But in the same breath, as a result of more quality experienced players, doesn't their job of controlling and improving the team and always performing to the best standards be easier in the NFL (at least compared to college kids who can get very unpredictable in their growth)? Belichick knew and probably had easier preparation to getting what he needed on his offense in Brady, Gronk, etc., whereas for Saban its not that case as he essentially is having to grow qbs each new year like a mac jones, tua, bryce young, jalen milroe from scratch, and can max play them at their college peak for a max of 1-2 yrs (as their freshman/sophomore yrs mainly goes as backups). This just feels like a nullified debate to have, because yes the NFL competition is WAY harder of course, but raising a team to meet the same standards in continuity is very hard in college, especially if you pick up the wrong prospects/star players on ur team transfer out for other opportunities (e.g., Hurts transferring from bama to OU). Its two different forms of greatness, just how you interpret which one is harder to do will get your nod. I'm guessing that ultimately this is the reason though why belichick would be the ultimate winner of this debate, many don't follow both college and professional levels to equal degrees, and cause differentiation for it through bias, and thus go with Belichick as a default answer due to lack of knowledge of cfb.

You cant debate a college coach to a pro coach ever and its idiotic to think so. Its like comparing john wooden to phil jackson.

College is so much easier. You can recruit the incoming 2024 nfl draft class like you can high school kids. That being said they both are great and the great of all time in their perspective sports. Not everything has to be a debate. I hate these shows and what they did to sports. Low hanging fruit.

Imagine coach Bill getting the top 10 picks in every draft !!! That's what coach Saban has been working with. That's not to take anything from him, but coach Bill succeeded more with less. It's leagues between both imo.

Belichick is negative without Brady. Saban was positive with every roster. I think it is pretty clear cut.

Yall hold it against saban that he always had the best recruits like thats some kinda bad thing? Hes the reason they had the recruits, recruiting is a huge part of a college coaches ability.

I agree that it is Bill Belichik that is the greatest coach cause I remember Nick Saban coaching in the NFL and did not succeed and went back to college coaching.

Saban also had a multitude of 5 ⭐ recruits backing up 5 ⭐ recruits. Bill Belichick is the better coach.

If they had a Green Shirt,Orange Shirt, Purple Shirt rule where a QB can play in College for 10 years Saban would have won 10 Straight NCAA Championships if he had a young Brady. Belichick on the other hand is a colossal disaster without #12 before New England and after Brady left in New England A young Brady was 19-4 in College on a Wolverine team that lost 33 players Brady's first year starting. Citrus Bowl and Orange Bowl winner in 2 seasons as a starter at Michigan where the Wolverines had no business winning . Belichick has a horrendous *.437 Win%* in 140 games without Brady..

It’s bill by a mile, bill did it at the highest level possible, saban did it by recruiting whoever he wants, and his titles are heavily dependent on old dudes voting them worthy to be in CPF

You act like the teams in the conference didn’t recruit as well. Saban also depended on younger players more than other coaches cause most of his players went pro as soon as they were eligible. You also add in the fact that he was replacing coordinators almost every year or two.

i hate when non college football people say "such and such coach had better players than 90% of opponents they played" IT IS THE COACHES JOB TO GET THE PLAYERS ON THE ROSTER WITHOUT THE COACH THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE if anything it adds to the greatness of whatever coach you are talking about whether it is the coaches that stacked miami 30 and 40 years ago or nick at bama and LSU or kirby at Georgia it is the coaches job RECRUIT OR DIE as they say
