Nia, the whole argument about her being fine and getting fat because she's 'not doing it to hurt him' is a BS thing to say. If the man in the relationship started drinking 5-6 millers every night and going out and getting shitfaced on the weekend from 8 PM to 3 AM at the local pub, the woman would have every right to be upset, he's becoming an alcoholic. He's not doing it to hurt her, but he is still doing it, and a relationship is about effort. You and your partner should be putting in the same amount of work, it's not fair to this guy who wrote in that his girlfriend is being deceptive. He sat down and tried to do more for her in terms of her diet than I think anybody else would take the time to do. I mean seriously, a healthy lunch is one thing, but for him to come home and make a healthy meal every single day for her that will be ready when she gets home from a stressful day is an incredibly supportive thing to do. He's not asking her to lose all of the weight right now. He loves this girl right? He will stand by her side through it all because that's what love is. He's lashing out at the end because he's letting all of his anger out, his girl went behind his back, completely neglected all of the effort he put into making her healthy, and still continues to eat like shit.

If the guy had been an ass and said something along the lines of “my girlfriend is a fat pig, I’m thinking of cheating on her with her friend, she’s so disgusting and won’t help herself because I only like pencil thin hot babes” then I, along with what I assume to be most other guys, would’ve found Nia’s reaction hilarious because of how shitty the guy was. It’s always funny to see some shithead, narcissistic guy get shit on. But the guy was overly calm, helpful, and mature about this, and Nia had no right to shit on him the way she did. I think that’s why there was an overwhelmingly hateful response to her in this comment section. I’m all for shitting on assholes, but there’s a time and a place. And this wasn’t right.

Of course women do the same with financial positions. If you live in your mom's house, you'll probably be unattractive to women.

"She's 24, she can bounce back." What the fuck do you think the guy is trying to help her do, Nia?! Amazing that she makes the point that the guy should try to see what's going on with his chick emotionally on the inside instead of just putting a band aid on it, yet she can't look past the anger in his email and see how hurt the guy is that his genuine support for his girl is not only going unappreciated, but is also proving to be a wasted effort in the end. God bless Bill for being able to reign that whole thing in and force some perspective back into the conversation.

I can relate to Nia's reaction. My wife went through something similar after our daughter was born. The only difference with my case was that my wife brought it up and asked for my honest thoughts. I told my wife that I didn't want to bring it up because I was afraid she'd freak out, which she ended up doing but then she understood where I was coming from. Damned if you do and damned if you don't essentially. My concern wasn't the weight, it was actually her behavior and her trying to avoid looking at her herself that got me worried. She lost the weight and she went back to being the same jolly women I always knew.

Actually, as a fit guy I have to agree with Nia. It is incredibly stressful to have to maintain this level of fitness just to feel sexy. I have fallen off the wagon at times, due to depression, and it would break my heart to have a gf who would consider leaving me over that. And as a former weed smoker I know what it can do to my appetite, I ballooned up to 248 lbs smoking weed and lifting weights too. My exercise couldn't compensate for eating like crap. I was under a lot of stress at the time. The girl who would stick with me through that would be the one I would want to keep and stay with her when she has her own ups and downs.
@matthewh64749 жыл бұрын
***** When you are happy you will have more willpower to resist eating all that food. And stopping the weed really helped me eat less too, cause when I was stoned I had no self control and would eat an entire large pizza in one sitting, and it didn't even affect me, but eating that much without being stoned would make me feel nauseous.

+Thomas C I got my food addiction controlled through anti depressants. Most addiction is linked with depression or stress. Manage that and you're half way home.

What the fuck are you talking about? "The girl who would stick with me through that?" The guy in the video did exactly that. He tried his best to be supportive, talked to her like an adult, was supportive, bought her a gym membership, cooked her healthy food and you're blaming him for getting angry when she straight up spat in his face, lied to him and went behind his back?
@keysersozae9 жыл бұрын
WTF is Nia's problem here? Being obese is extremely unhealthy. Gaining a ton of adipose tissue rapidly is extremely unhealthy. Why is she defending this woman's self-destructive habits? Nia is fucking unbelievable - she's in a high stress position, so it's OK to gain 70 lbs. of fat? Guess what - I'm in a high-stress position too, yet I don't self-medicate with KFC. And so what if part of the guy's motivation is for his significant other to be attractive (or, remain attractive instead of becoming obese)? That is a valid consideration in a relationship - and in the end, if it is partly motivating him to make her healthy meals, get her a gym membership, etc., then IT'S ALL GOOD. And Bill defends "the asshole guys" huh? What is Nia doing right now - defending the "crazy bitches?" Nia addressed this in an incredibly immature manner. There is no excuse for this woman's behavior, and she is defending all her bullshit and talking out of her fucking ass.

Bill needs to switch the roles of these advice emails before reading them to Nia. Nia gets extremely closed minded and defensive in these scenarios. I'm curious to see what her reaction would've been had the story been, "my boyfriend is cheating... on his diet".

Flipside, nobody except Bill questions the shit when a woman do the shit this guy did. Women like to not mention weight loss to guys but they do hold that shit over you when shit hits the fan, she is about to loss an argument and bring up how shitty you look now compared to how she met you back in the day. Seen this shit, been through this shit. Bill is correct on his response.

Nia says a lot of foolish things in this clip, but I do agree with her on one point: Considering he has tried (exhausted, more like it) supportive action, making lunched, buying a bike and gym membership, and all that hasn't worked, it is probably time to address the mental health angle. Her ailment seems to stem from mental stress which, at this point, seems overwhelming. She is not coping well and she needs help, not with her physical body (at first, that will come later) but with her attitude. It seems she pours all her will power, which is a mental resource, into her new job. Perhaps some form of therapy or a lot of talking about it can set her on the right path, or perhaps she should consider a career change. These things need to be discussed. Right now it sounds like he's only addressed the unhealthy lifestyle and not the root cause of her attitude.
@moVwatchr674 жыл бұрын
I totally understand where she was coming from because she (like many people today) misinterpreted this guy’s concern for the health of his girlfriend as fat-shaming. It’s an easy trigger and one that I used to trip over. My boyfriend and I had a discussion that was so similar to this, where in the end, I realized that he was right and that I was conflating concern for health with shaming. Nia does it here and Bill spells it out. But for everyone hating on her for it, notice of the fact that she clearly takes his point and acknowledges that he is right. I have to say that this video, along with several others of theirs I’ve watched (or listened to, rather) demonstrates a very healthy relationship to where two people can have very frank, honest discussions and both will acknowledge when they’ve made a mistake.

What strikes me is when Nia mentions “Oh, so you have a six pack and a full head of hair” as her criteria for the level of male hotness. Male baldness really isn’t something you can control, it’s super genetic and you sort of play the cards you get dealt. On the other hand, weight and muscle growth is absolutely something you can control

People complain about Nia, but her and Bill balance each other out really well. She is good at bringing him down and sorting out a lot of disorganization with him, and he is able to enlighten her in certain area's where she otherwise would lose her shit and stay in that one mindset. I've listened to them both help out one another plenty of times, and give the other a perspective that they otherwise wouldn't have had. And to everyone that likes and "respects" Bill, you're being incredibly disrespectful to his WIFE by calling her out of her name or saying rude things for simply giving her opinion, wrong or not.
