To make it a bit clearer for those who have never tried psychedelics... when you do Shrooms, Acid, Ecstasy...etc(all of which I've tried), they're all different, but they have inherently similar core sensations in that they allow you to step out of your mind and see yourself truly from an exterior perspective. It's fun and you feel woozy and high and all that, but if you let yourself fall deeply into it, it can truly be a cathartic experience as well. It's like when someone says "it's hard to take your own advice", what they mean is pretty general amongst all people. We can look at the individuals around us and all their faults, and we can gather all the information and experience we've attained and formulate a solution that we believe would work toward helping them. That's why friends tend to seek advice from eachother. It's not that your friend thinks that you're smarter than them, you're simply a fresh perspective on a problem they may be tackling and you might be able to find a solution that they, for the life of them, can't seem to figure out. And more often than not, it ends up being extremely simple, it's just that they can't traverse the interior of the issue the same way someone on the outside can. We can go through our entire lives stuck in the mud, dealing with psychological problems that we have no idea how to deal with like Bill said, but for SOME of us(not all), when taking a psychedelic, it allows us to, for the first time, step out of ourselves, and see things that only OTHER people can see. Here's a perfect example. Before the mirror was invented, the only way people could ever get a vague image of what their physical appearance was like was by looking down into a calm pool of water or a blurry image on a reflective material like polished metal, stone or glass... so for the vast majority of human existence, no one truly knew what they looked like unless they had a portrait made or looked into a reflective material or something, but it certainly wasn't the same as what individuals around you saw when they looked upon you. This is the same thing only with the mind instead of they physical appearance. Right now there's no true "Mirror" that allows us to reflect our inner self, we can only rely on our own broken self image and the help of others to help us traverse our inner workings. Psychedelics allow you to temporarily escape this meat and bone prison and see all the issues that are just out of arms reach and if you're lucky you'll be able to see them in an entirely new light, which could help you evolve and grow as a person if you allow yourself to dive into the psychedelic experience with an open mind. It ALL relies on how open you are to succumbing to the experience. Many people who have to be CONVINCED to try something, usually tend to lock themselves into reality and don't allow themselves to freefall and get the full effect. Contrary to popular belief, when you try psychedelics you don't completely lose your inhibitions, you're still aware, you simply take a backseat, but you're still very much in the car, so to speak. The question is are you going to be a control freak backseat driver, or will you sit back, relax, stare out the window and zone out. THAT'S the key.

New perspective can only be gained if you physically move to a new position, psychedelics are a metaphorical mental version of changing or breaking your focus on thoughts. It's probably harder to create new neural pathways then it is to keep using established ones (it definitely requires more energy to forge a new path), i'm sure psychedelics can help make that process easier through stimulation of all or a much larger area of neurons, which helps get on a different path of thought to understand things you already know. Though i think a lot of people waste this opportunity on spiritual shit!

1:01 - this sums it up. I’m not a scientist, doctor or agricultural expert but that’s exactly how I felt. I came away thinking, “it was there all along (the answer)!” I read that neurogenesis stops after a certain age, that psilocybin initiates neurogenesis. For those of you who haven’t done so, I would say that it feels like your brain is being cleansed. Like Bill Burr regularly states re: negative consumption of news, “why would you want that on your hard-drive?” So, if a person has had to endure trauma or had their wellbeing deteriorate over time - I definitely think that psilocybin should be looked at as a medicine, not a “drug” like opioids. They’re less harmful for you. Michael Pollan said that there is zero toxicity from them, as did Hamilton Morris. A society that embraces these is a society better off, in my view. If you’re in a country that is behind with the times, they have retreats elsewhere (South America or, in Europe: Portugal).

I feel like I need a good mushroom trip. I only did mushrooms one time but I was only 14 and it was only one little cap so I'm assuming it was more of light trip. @@Buttsmoker "I kind of had a bad trip, but in a good way."
@timothykappel1983 жыл бұрын
@@Buttsmoker I said "or". Everyone is different people call it bad trips for a multitude of reasons. I don't believe there's such a thing as a bad trip unless there is some outside interference with your trip. An example would be getting arrested and strapped down to a hospital gurney and for a lack of a better term tortured now that would be a terror trip. Another example is if you might stumble into someone's campsite and spill there drink or say something innocent to someone's significant other and they fight you or something like that but I don't call a scary intense trip that isn't interfered with a bad trip you might not be ready for such a profound experience but most people come out better the more intense or "bad" the trip is. But that just my 2 cents and my experiences. I always advise a trip sitter especially on large doses and especially with people who aren't in the best mental state which they really shouldn't be taking them unless there with an experienced sitter/healer/shaman.

I mean Bill isn't wrong in anything he's saying here at all. and i fucking love it. As a comedian, he knew 'if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at' and the awkward that comes from people who give a shit and feel bad for your pain, despite the joke but, the fact that he can remember how big of a deal the little shit was as a kid, and use that to understand his daughter is...amazing. It's more than you can ask for in a father, tbh. I love it, and i love him.

Took mushrooms a few years ago. In my trip I communicated with what to me was mother nature. I saw a visual of a plant, MN urgently told me that humans are destroying the environment too fast and that if we continue at this pace MN won't be able to provide and protect us. It felt like MN begging me to do something. It was a bizarre experience that I often think about now but prior to that trip I really hadn't put much or any thought into it at all.
