Bill Evans: Knit For Mary F - Intro by Helen Keane

Helen Keane (1923-1996) was Bill's personal manager and producer since 1962 and remained that almost longlife for 18 years, until his death in 1980.
One of Bill's last compositions in 1980 was "Knit For Mary F" for a friend, Mary Franksen. The tune was also known as "the repeated note tune", but was then titled for Mary Franksen of Omaha, Nebraska, in return for her motherly affection and "thousands" of clothing items she knitted for Bill and his family.
I got several interviews from the late Brian Hennessey, Evans friend, writer for Jazz Journal International and founder of the The Bill Evans Memorial Library before he died September 4, 2014. This is a small part from a long interview by Helen Keane.

Beautiful composition. Unfairly overlooked in Bill's repertoire- wish more would play it.
