My wife just left me after 17 years. Just decided she didn’t want to be married anymore. The nightmare of dealing with the legal system will soon begin. Division of assets, child support, custody. And all I did was work 2 jobs for the last 10 years to make sure we could be middle class. What a shmuck I was.

Jeremy King feel you there bud, it’s pretty nuts when you think about it. It’s important to never give your heart to a woman as she won’t respect that, you must be resilient enough to keep your heart for you and always grow to improve yourself (and if you got them, your kids). Take care bro, it’s rough right after divorce but you can get through it in time. Keeping busy with your work and exercise will help a lot too

Fuck yeah, she deserves compensation for that shit. The minute a guy has real money, he thinks he can be unfaithful with no repercussions. Also, the alimony laws are meant to compensate the woman for the years and years she spent OUT of the job market, because she was home raising their kids and usually catering to the man also, while he worked. So let’s say he starts banging his secretary and completely devastates the wife emotionally and VIOLATES his marriage vows, she wants a divorce.... and now she has no current job skills and has yeeeeeeaaars out of the job market. but its not just marriage that can get a man screwed, I looked up Bill Maher and apparently he faced being sued by his ex for millions when he wanted out after a long term relationship. So guys, even just having a long term relationship without marriage can get you in trouble. Here in UK they are no bringing in extreme man hating laws to screw men over if there is a break-up in a relationship, even without marriage and I understand there are a few of these laws in America in some States. Its all against us men, and they are coming for us big time, no I am not being paranoid its the truth . Even having a relationship where you dont live together, she can end the relationship by cheating on you then sue you for emotional abuse down the line after its ended. Chaps, its just not worth risking having a relationship at all, I am dead serious, I know I would never get into a relationship for this reason and for a few others. @ashfield14254 жыл бұрын
Rosa Del Rio Not suggesting for a second that all women are scammers but unfortunately those that are (and lets face it there are a few) ruin it for those who are who have a legitimate reason to seek support. Women can be vindictive which leads to men paying for their lives (I do not mean where children are involved) and that’s where I think if women want equal rights they shouldn’t be looking to a man to provide it for them.
@stacihilliard37614 жыл бұрын
@@ashfield1425 solid point. I think people don't look deeply into the reasons/logic behind traditional "gender roles" and understand there is a difference between equality and the literal same. Men risk a modern day men risk a woman leaving them and recieving alimony (assuming he makes more). Women risk staying home to raise kids and then getting divorced and having no employable skillset to take care of herself because she's been out the workforce for 10 yrs. Everyone runs a risk in marriage.
@ashfield14254 жыл бұрын
Staci Hilliard Totally agree. My only caveat to this is where there are no children involved. Why should a man or woman pay after divorce pay to keep an individual in a style to which they have become accustomed. That does not speak equality to me. The flip side of alimony. My cousin was married for 30 yrs, her husband wanted her to stay at home with the children. He owned a construction company, made enough money they could afford it. As the children got older he still liked coming home to a clean house and a home cooked meal. She managed the home inside & out she did the yard work, grew a garden. In her 50s she started having health issues. One day he did not come home, he just left her without even a discussion. She had no business qualifications & could not stand for long periods of time. Her career was her family; she got alimony as she should have.

@rena6865 Even if those situations do occur, the reality is that alimony is rooted in outdated concepts relating to men and women's roles. Women aren't unable to make money anymore, they can make more money than most men nowadays. @@ddsjgvk My cousin’s husband did leave her. She did not want a divorce. I was responding to a hypothetical situation where the wife left & should be granted alimony, in the case of an affair or abuse. When couples make a decision for their family, that it benefits the family if the wife stays at home & makes her career the family; this often involves, managing everything related to the children & everything in the home. Later it often transfers from taking care of children to caring for aging parents. (His & hers) By the time a wife is in her 50s & has no experience outside the home, it is very difficult for her to find a job that will cover basic living expenses. I think she should be granted alimony for the work she did for thirty years. I had a very different experience, I have been a nurse for over thirty years. I had a husband who would not hold a job. We never had a discussion that he should stay at home. I would have been livid if a judge would have made me pay him alimony. I definitely understand the other side of the coin. I am only referring to couples that made the decision together that it would benefit their family if the wife were a stay at home mom.

I've been married 47 years. I have seen so much change with regard to how other people view marriage today. Marriage is commitment to not only each other but to all the mistakes, pitfalls and potential windfalls you will absolutely have together over time. Some people love the IDEA of marriage. But the reality of it, not so much. If you go into it with the mindset that money is more important than why you even wanted to enter into it in the first place, then my advice is, DON'T do it. And here's the thing. Only people that have a great deal of money going into a commitment of marriage (both men AND women) use THAT as the foundation of whether their marriage may or may not be successful, that's why they feel the need for prenups. If money is the central focus, it's doomed from day one. On the flip side of that, when you don't have a great deal of money from the beginning, THAT isn't the central focus. So TOGETHER you build the life you want with each other. Money and people's greed for it, mixed with their egos is why most marriages fail.

However, if you have the discipline to wait and watch, her true self will eventually emerge and you'll be asking yourself two questions; (1.) "Where's the woman I fell in love with, cause this ain't her." And the more painful question, (2.) "Did she really exist in the first place, or was it just an act?" I been married 18yrs solid and we still root 5 times a week at least... its always been that way we are just fuckin animals for each other in the bedroom.. aside from that we are also the best of friends, we can shoot the shit and make each other laugh at the same shit.. its just "easy".. not boring.. easy, not stressful. I cant know for sure what the future holds but i do believe its one of those cases where we are just perfect for each other. Sometimes its just a case of not meshing, i don't mesh with other women, i dont even bother perving or giving girls attention, especially the ones that want all the guys lookin at em i tend to ignore, funny enough that makes em try harder lol... but they have a shit attititude I find them boring no matter how they look. Maybe what we have is rare.. by the sounds of these comments i would say it probably is.. But maybe its the sex as well as getting along and being best mates... Maybe it takes a strong sexual connection as well as the mental stimulation you give each other. So find that girl who is just a total slut for you.. and marry her haha

Everything’s good if it’s works for us why would I want to get the government involved? If we ever decide to break up we sell the house split the profits and go our separate ways, doesn’t make sense to me to go get a piece of paper and complicate things, (keep in mind the people that keep saying this are divorced or on child support or both) my uncles and dad are the ones that tell me “your doing it right” everyone just wants you to be in there situation, (crabs in the bucket)

I am a lawyer bud and have friends that couldn’t stomach divorce law. For every attorney who is a piece of shit.... plenty of spouses switch attorney as or threaten doing so if the attorney doesn’t take off the gloves and go to work on their still spouse. You see the most cruel nature of people come out. It’s why I don’t practice there. The laws need to change as people don’t live to 65 years old anymore and game the system so you your ex wife lives with her lover and has you pay for her him and trips to Puerto Rico where her lover bangs her on your dime. An attorney who doesn’t get his client the most money.... doesn’t get future cases.

The hardest part for me was not the money. It's finding out that the most important person in your life is not who you thought she was and the sense of betrayal that comes with the knowledge that she has been working with an attorney behind your back to set you up. I also lost my sense of fatherhood since the law gives the mother, by far, the largest part of parenting. Even though (especially with girls) the father is the one that validates the childs existence. My relationship with my daughter has never recovered. And, yes, walking into the room with the attorneys I felt like this was going to be an extended prostate exam.

excellent from Joe and Bill! love is love. doesn't have to be signed for. when there's a committment, its felt in a way that can't be described - its felt by both parties. i have been married for 14 years now. asked my wife recently, is it our love that keeps us going or the fact that we signed a document and invited so many people to an event ?? if we love each other, it would show, it would be felt, no mistake about it. why then complicate the whole thing by signing a paper? especially in countries where the divorce laws are far from acceptable...
