Yesterday, at a community event, my family and friends safely viewed the eclipse... But we also viewed a young man, probably early 20s, deliberately stare into the eclipse for a full hour 😰 He had his head leaned back very solmenly with hsi eyes closed, and would blink open his eyes and squint into the sun for as long as he could, then repeat. The more od the sun was covered, the longer he looked, unril he was just staring, unblinking, into a 90% covered sun. A library employee saw him and hurries iver to tey ro five him a free pair of eclipse glasses and he just smiled and waved her away. I assume he read bad infor online about rhe "benefits" of doing this. I cant stop thinking about him, im really concerned that he may have permanently damaged his retinas. That kind of damage apparently doesn't hurt while it's happening, and the effects may only show up hours later...

Another thing you can do is grab a piece of cardboard, drill a hole in it, turn away from the sun, and then hold it up. The sun eclipse will project itself through the hole.
