1) "I Had Some Help" reclaiming the #1 spot was disappointing but not surprising. Hopefully, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" can take over by next week. 2) "Carnival" lasted 19 weeks. It's making the Year-End Hot 100 but lasting 20 weeks would've guaranteed it a better spot. Just sayin'. 🤷‍♂️ 3) It's amazing how Chappell Roan is continuing her unexpected rise to stardom. BOTW: You Look Like You Love Me - Sometimes TikTok does get it right. The chemistry is great, and it really does sound like a classic country song. Hope Nashville radio takes notice. (Also, some of you guys are missing out not putting this among the best this week, this is excellent.) HM (Tie): Pour Me A Drink/feelslikeimfallinginlove - For the former, this is much better than I Had Some Help, mainly because the fiddle is more apparent in this one, and the chemistry is better. For the latter, yeah, it's basic, but that doesn't make it bad, and plus, Chris Martin is still an amazing singer. DM: Girl, So Confusing - Look, I tried to like this one, but those synths just give me a headache. At least they were tolerable on 360. I can't really say anything about the chemistry, because both Charli XCX and Lorde's vocals are too autotuned. Sorry! WOTW: Kehlani - I thought the trend of naming songs after other artists was over. They're mediocre at best and creepy at worst. This song feels like the latter, plus the guy sounds like a girl with all the processing on his voice. Also, am I the only one who thinks the sample in that Mustard song sound like that one remix of The Muffin Time song from asdfmovie? Anyways, next week, we have possible album impact from Camila Cabello and Megan Thee Stallion. Also, this Chappell Roan breakthrough sounds like it's getting out of hand. Hopefully we get actual new songs for a new album to chart.

Next week might possibly be a little small given that Camila Cabello's 'C,XOXO' seems to have completely vanished from streaming conversations (even with that Drake collaboration), which leaves Megan Thee Stallion's self-titled record to notch a couple tracks (seemingly the ones most Japanese based, iykyk). Some other singles that could break through are Kelsea Ballerini teaming with Noah Kahan, Kid Laroi with his new single, Lisa's "Rockstar", and maybe Eminem's new collab single to gear up for 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)" dropping on July 12th. Also on the topic of new album releases, Zach Bryan is releasing 'The Great American Bar Scene' tomorrow and Childish Gambino dropping his final project on July 19th, which is the same time JT, of City Girls, is dropping her solo debut record.

Song Recommendations: Hawk Tuah Freestyle by Token: So there was this meme of a girl going “Hawk Tuah”, and Token sampled it to make an awesome rap freestyle. The production is infectious, the vocals are on point, and the lyrics are incredibly clever. Another great Token banger! Intermission 2 by Joey Valence and Brae: An absolute bop, with infectious production, chill vocals, and cool lyrics. Pure fun! Sunset Lover by Petit Biscuit: An infectious and chill instrumental bop, with a nice, summery vibe. Very nice! One Of Those Days by Zack Bia, Lil Yachty, and 347aidan: A really fun tune, with great production, fun vocals from Lil Boat, infectious vocals from Aidan, and great lyrics. Cool song all around! With Wild Ones gone, I'd like to talk about it. So remember last month when I ranked all of this decade's Kids Choice Awards nominated songs due to how much I love meming on the show itself? I didn't actually listen to every song too. No, I don't pay attention to them for unironic reasons, and I don't take them seriously. I only do it because of ironic value and stockholm syndrome. When I made that ranking, I was surprised they nominated Wild Ones due to how it wasn't much of a charting hit despite what the Year-End is gonna say, and it didn't have any artists I can imagine making a forty something in a board room go "hey, stupid kids who like Minions and SpongeBob likes them." The other day, I listened to the ten second preview of it on Spotify. If the whole song is like that snippet, than it's a great example of why I didn't listen to every song, and having kids listen to that song is bad parenting. Imagine being awful for "award show that base their nominees on what's popular with stupid kids" standards. But hey, at least they nominated the woman who made On My Mama despite that song peaking in the thirties. That's an unironic W. Anyways, see you next week when I talked about this shitpost again unless I get cold feet and change my mind, and also maybe with the week after if I talk about the show itself even though it probably won't give me as much to talk about as the Oscars. I’d love to see “I’m Not Pretty” (how tf did this not get the traction that “Tennessee Orange” got?! It’s miles better (and I love a petty as hell Country song)), “My Kink is Karma” (if “After Midnight” can just get the single treatment or momentum as well as I think it’s the sleeper of that album) and “Young Love & Saturday Night” (yeah, yeah…Chris Young rewrote “Rebel Rebel,” but it’s catchy as hell and works in all the ways “Chevrolet” misses as a rewrite of “Drift Away”…and even improves where “She Had Me at Heads Carolina” was as a rewrite song) sneak into the Hot 100. All are overdue and deserving.

@alexddragame I don't think Gracie Abrams is a fantastic artist as she does have her flaws. What she reminds me of is Halsey. I remember when everyone didn't like her music for similar reasons (except nepotism), but I always thought she had the potential to grow. "Manic" really proved me right in the best way possible. Even critics who didn't like Halsey enjoyed a good amount of that album

Agreed. I'm not really a fan of Gracie Abrams as an artist, but I absolutely HATE when people bring up the whole nepotism argument so that they can use it as an excuse and a gateway to automatically dunk on someone rather than actually focusing on the talent at hand. Like, look at Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish. They both benefit from nepotism and have already had connections to the entertainment industry from a very early age (Miley is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, the man who made Achy Breaky Heart and Billie's mother is an actress who starred in several shows and movies) yet they're both still EXTREMELY talented in their own ways. You can call out someone's nepotism and privilege while ALSO acknowledging that they have talent if they have any to begin with. Those 2 sentences are not mutually exclusive, and the sooner people start acknowledging that, the better.
