Somewhere I sincerely hope there is an unspoilt ,pristine version of this video on this planet. Love this.

My step father was always in one local country music band or another when I was growing up back in the 70's and early 80's and so Country music was the norm for the common areas of the house back then. One thing I remember him saying countless times, and his fellow band mates agreeing with and never even suggesting an alternative, was that Mr. Chet Atkins was the greatest guitar player to ever put finger to string. I never had cause to disagree with that, One other legendary great that I personally remember and thought had an amazing gift was Roy Clark. I did not stay on the Country trail, so to speak, and as I grew older I gravitated towards Rock and then Punk as my music of choice but I never forgot those days long past of sitting around the "HiFi" listing Chet Atkins, Roger Miller, Charley Pride, Porter Wagner and Dolly Parton just to name a few of the many. It was nice seeing this clip, hearing the music with my eyes closed brings back a lot more more memories for me than actually watching the video but it is a gem all on it's own. Thanks for uploading.👍👍👍

@Van Hatfield I think Miller and Roy Clark were somewhat underrated in pure musical talent due to the fact that they were such good comedians

For some reason I just started crying when Willy started singing that song. I’m a 79 year old widow and I’ve been blessed 😇 🙏🏻with more wonderful children grandkids and great grandkids than I deserve. Plus just best friends that I’ve known for ever who give me unconditional love 💕 so maybe that’s the reason why I started crying I because I’m so fortunate to have been blessed 😇 with so many dear friends. 😇😇😇😇😇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏👏👏👏

There will never be another guitarist quite as beautiful as Chet Atkins. He not only had he been enormously talented he had been concerned with helping as many people as he could. He discovered my favorite singer Waylon Jennings and brought him to us so that we were able to enjoy him when he had been alive and now that he’s been gone from us for a long time I still listen to his concerts. And I know know that he had been one of the old friends that Willy Nelson was singing about. 😭😢🥺🥺😊

Loved Chet's Engine Engine #9 but I especially appreciate Willie on When Two World's Collide. Two of the finest celebrating one of the finest songwriters ever to put pen to paper. Love Willie's unique guitar sounds from that old Martin.

You know, people like to compare performer's abilities, seemingly never learning it's apples and oranges. A comment further down praised Chet, then said Willie....well. Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion, likes, and dislikes. But I have to say, Willie isn't Chet Atkins, BUT Chet Atkins isn't Willie either. Both have great talent. Yes, watching and hearing Chet play is mesmerizing, amazing. But, if you have ears to hear, Willies perhaps simpler guitar playing is just as distinctive , beautiful and unique. I instantly realized his style, sound and licks I've heard on so many of his songs was HIM, he was the guitar player, and I love that sound. Thank God no 2 artists are the same. Anyone that was an exact duplicate of another artist isn't being themselves, no matter how talented. Chances are they won't be around long, if they even get far enough to make a splash. What is truly amazing and interesting is an Artist that incorporates the bits and pieces of their influences, then makes their own unique mark in music. It also gives people like me a freedom to play music, even though I will never sound like, nor likely measure up to those people whose musical talent is so wonderful. Fact is, I don't have to. Great video. Willie may be the last one left on this Earth in this video.

There are many videos where Chet owns on guitar. It's great to see Willie demonstrate an amazing degree of skill along side him. Incredibly lucky audience to have a chance to see these two legends give tribute to a legend live.

Hehe,- Nelson is as always using "Trigger". That gittar sounds pretty good even when half the body has fallen off during the years and inflated into that crater. They still mend it together all the time. Pieces of wood flying from the stage at any given moment. i LIKE. Chet was just beyond!

When Chet got older, he mostly played nylon string guitars and at the end, he couldn't play anymore. I really loved how he did Engine Engine No. 9. I wonder if the woman in the video is his daughter Merle and the kids, his grandchildren. I think so. What a great loss it was to me when Chet died. I consider him to be the best guitar player who ever lived and now, it is Doyle Dykes and Tommy Emmanuel, cgp. Tommy was like an adopted son to Chet and his mentor from age 11 on.

It's too bad Willie Nelson is so misguided and misled regarding his anti-oil sands position. He's supposed to be for the American worker and jobs. Is he putting us on? He's a good musician, and songwriter but, is uneducated and poorly misinformed in his political view on this issue. So sad.
