The best part for me was when Pete said, "Say, let's go!" and Britt calmy responded, "I can't do that." Great video. You guys need to do some duo gigs as a 'Power Couple' instead of a power trio.
@ia56625 жыл бұрын
Probably one of the all-time best rhythm rock albums ever made - these riffs are all timeless and have such great pop sensibility. And best of all - killer f'ing tone. Great job doing a proper review with the actual riffs and HSS strats.

This is crazy, they really did nail it.. should buy this one. I could always find a use for that Green Day character in what I play or just stack it up with other effects to see what kind of amalgamation is hiding behind the obvious.

That was a fun change of pace. Loved the video.
@defenestrator8285 жыл бұрын
Dang, that tone resonates so strongly with me since I discovered Green Day in very much the same way and time my life as Brittany... I can't believe how well this pedal nails it, and seems totally useful in its own right. Bravo MXR.

Years/decades of buying Marshall super leads trying to find this sound, and now I can get it with a pedal.... Why couldn’t this pedal have come out it 1994?!?!??? Killer stuff. Buying it now.

That's the best demo of the pedal so far. Another great demo Pete. Loved that you brought in Brittany. Then again you always have a way of making all pedals sound great. Pedal has alot of range to it. More so than its intended purpose. Light gain to scooped high gain. Wonder what it sounds with the boost. Or light gain side with compression and a single coil. I guess I'll just have to buy it. Brittany I remember seeing that original video of you up on stage. Way to go, chase your dreams. Make it happen. You obviously have the talent and character.

This was fun! Brit should guest more often (And she's wicked on drums and guitar). Also, Pete, loved the Charvel, it sounded spot on with the pedal. Dookie remains one of those albums that everyone who loves rock/power pop/punk should have. It's a total touch-tone (and what's funnier is Billy Joe would always talk about being such a metalhead as a teen while learning how to write songs and play, which is why even as simple as they are, his chord progressions tend to have a few curveballs). =)

Gonna address the confusion MXR caused, the amps MXR used to make the pedal didn’t exist till mid 1994, Billie used Rob Cavallo’s Marshall JMP 2203, is a Plexi with a JCM800 style shell

U guys got reaaally close! Closer than Billie himself lol. Dookie was the album that changed everything for me back in 6th grade. I loved that tone so much I would crank up the intro guitar part on “when I come around” and just before the drums and bass would kick in I would push the back button and restart the track...over and over again. I have several high end guitars, amps and pedals but I might just have to buy one of these even if I never actually use it or more than 10 minutes lol

Brian Baker from Bad Religion also uses two Plexi heads with the dookie mod. He says one of the ones he’s using live currently actually IS Billie Joe’s. That first got me interested in the dookie mod. Seeing as how I won’t be buying two separate Plexi heads to have modded, this pedal is of course the next best thing and I ordered it the moment I found out it exists.

Just plugged it in to my PT15 on CH1, dialed up a Celestion Greenback IR for speaker simulation (hosted in the amp), and turned the knobs til it sounded right! You can hear in the portion of the video where I adjust the pedal. It's just about playing good and recording the sound cleanly, with a decent amp!
