Nice podcast. I read Michael Milken's book on Faster Cures. In the introduction there is a memorable framing of his life- "my life seems like a river with three main tributaries of interest-science, education and access to capital". He certainly has made substantial contributions to each. Has the ability to see the big picture and understand intricate details at the same time. His own recovery from a terminal cancer diagnosis reinforces the importance of agency in life.

I guess you are younger than me (56). Milken was famous in the 1980s as the "junk bond king" before getting arrested for some sort of financial crimes related to the collapse of his firm, Drexel Burnham, and sent to prison. The movie Wall Street with Michael Douglas was based on this era and guys like Milken and Ivan Boesky. I knew Milken had turned to philanthropy when he got out, but I had no idea it was this impressive.

I am really happy you had Michael Milken as a guest. Me as a researcher in Europe resonate so much on all the things he said. I would love to do more medical based basic science but funding and many other problems are making it not easy for me to pursue a career as an independant group leader. Thanks for this great podcast!! I wish you all the best!

To have everyone given access to the education and self-discipline he was privileged to be given. His view of the world from an early age is something many people don't begin to think about in a lifetime. His ambition is something that is hidden from the economically disadvantaged. To have that type of reading material would be almost illegal in the hood. I see why WS want to close libraries and teach false history. He never had that as a impediment to his mental development. The world would be a much better place were everyone given the same resources that were available to him. We are loosing much more abilities to help mankind by depriving the others from looking at the same problem with the same opportunity. The answer to all of our questions may be one deprived person away. They never got the guidance we all needed to advance.

I love this podcast. And I respect your guests' contributions in Medical research. My concern as a former RN is - Medical innovations are great, except when they are UNAVAILABLE to the 99% of the population, due to financial constraints. If people can't afford minimal amounts of health insurance, they wont be able to afford a procedure that cost $1,000's of dollars because their policy won't cover it.

Amidst all the scary headlines, is it truly a good time to buy stocks? People claim the market is ripe for buying, but will stocks decline further this year? When can we expect a full stock recovery? I'm perplexed about how some are making over $250k gains within months in this market.

Most are probabably too young to remember or have personal loss. Money and profits cannot be the end game. Listen to what he REALLY said about the population growth in Africa and whether or not they would be able to have jobs and be productive members of society..or leave and infiltrate other countries due to lack of opportunities! Read and listen between the lines. This was not an inspiring interview..im really disappointed that this person was chosen as a thought leader and influence to Jay. Yikes...not all is about money and profit and BILLION dollar influence
