You wanted to hear what builds/projects the community is working, so I figured I would share mine. I just got done with doing the nzxt h440 airflow mod using one of your videos as a guide. I made the front and top panel cut outs with rounded corners instead of square cuts tho. And thanks for selling the modders mesh, it was very helpful to make a clean looking finished mod.

If you don't have plastic drill bits use a center drill to drill a pilot hole first. This will prevent cracking as well as keep the drill on the desired spot so it doesn't slip..... and never use gloves when using rotary equipment... i learned that the hard way. Still a very good guide, thank you Owen for sharing :)

I built a cabinet (21.25"X29.5"X8" (W,H, and D)) to replace the 2 unappealing (😉 2x4s, built in shop class in middle school.) legs, and plan on putting the components from one of my PCs inside. A diy case of sorts, but currently working on airflow and dust prevention (Lol, as I know I will be tempted to power the components up as soon as they are mounted.). Was looking into pc panels for ideas when I stumbled upon your video. I'm working on the intake and trying to come up with a 120mmX360mm panel that would satisfy my airflow and filtration, while being cheap and esthetically pleasant. So far I have a few ideas, but seeing if I can find something better. Anyways, that's my "current" project.

Doing this in metal is a ballache when you don't have a strong drill press. Mines cheap because I barely need it, and it bound up a lot under pressure. Took ages to cut but it was worth it, very clean cut. Wish I had the skills/tools to make more 'specialised' ventilation, such as long rectangles with circular tips on each end and applying a mesh internally so it looks factory rather than going with a straight gaping hole.

ya I need to fix the DarkFlash DLH21 non-mesh version. It has horrible airflow with a solid plastic front that is not flat and the only airflow comes from a small slot of holes on the back from panel. I currently took the front aluminum panel off from the plastic but do like the look of the plastic panel. Working on coming up with a similar solution to solve the airflow issue all while keeping most of the looks. I did not chose this case. Newegg made a mistake and sent 2 when my son built his last PC. I'm either going to fix it or build another Mac G5 to MATX conversion mod case in black. Decisions....decisions...

If I can find one, they go out of stock right as I'm ready to buy but I'm about to buy an Anideee's Crystal Cube Lite. Any tips for cutting into glass? The front of the case is quite restricted. I already have plans to cut out of the front fan mounts as they block the airflow from the 4x120mm fan mount they include in the box.

Considering modding my acrylic side panel -> side fans for better GPU cooling
@MiddleofKnowhere
@MiddleofKnowhere 6 жыл бұрын
I can attest that keeping or installing side fans does help. I modded my Corsair Carbide 500R to have an acrylic window where it formally had 2 side fans. Temps seemed to increase, mostly in the GPU. I'm thinking b/c my heat fins on the GTX 970 HOF were perpendicular to the airflow from those fans so the air could get through them to better cool the thing. Now without the fans on the side the air just hits solid metal so it's not as efficient. I ended up drilling holes into the side panel I had made for 1 or 2 fans (can't remember) and temps subsided again. Then 2 years later I modded it to be glass, so temps are a bit up on the GPU again. lol Looks good though :D even made a vid for the mod: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmOniaCipNuVfKs I can honestly say Bill's vids inspired the activity.

Glad to see a new video Bill! You asked, so I'll answer: I've got a new build in the works. Ryzen 2700x Asus Crosshair VII Hero Mobo 64GB of G.Skill Trident Z RGB ram Two WD Black NVM.e HDs, 500GB and 1TB. One will be for the OS, and 1 for most commonly used programs (OS will be using PCI lanes and the other will use SATA due to lane restrictions as 16 will be fore GPU) My old 7200 HDDs, 2TB and 8TB respectively for documents and video footage for my channel A Seasonic Prime Titanium Ultra 1000 Watt PSU (Will eventually get some custom cables from Cablemod--Yay 20% off coupon with mobo) A boat load of Corsair HD120 RGB fans Corsair Commander Pro and Lighting Node Pro And when available for purchase the Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic in white and a new GPU (upon announcement). Right now I'll be using a Corsair Carbide 275R and my old GTX 970. I really wanted the Dynamic but stock sold out super quick, so I got the 275R to serve in the interim. It's decently priced and I want to try a mod on one anyway. I'll eventually go full hard tubing water loop as well. Again, waiting on the GPUs to be announced (will wait until after Computex). I pretty much have those parts on order. EK black chrome fittings, RGB Res/D5 Pump combo, Monoblock for the mobo, 2 360 PE radiators. That's all I can think of for now lol. I'm excited to start building the dang thing!

that would be a "positive pressure" system and you'll be fine, cause you'll be pushing the warm out. Just make sure to filter the intake fans, or your system will suck in dust like a vacuum.

I love a near silent pc, so at the moment I have taken the side panel off, to easily let air (and a little bit of dust) get in, and only used very slow rotating fans of my choice, to pull air through all-in-one water radiators. By also slowing the water pumps on cpu and gpu I can't hear much and, most importantly, the noice i do get, is constant and very pleasant to my ear. (Not as pleasant as a V8 engine, but you know what I mean ;-) ). But I am intrigued by this multi fan solution kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIbFoZVoaN6HgZo , even though it is at the other end of the noice spectrum, because it is quite out there - and I like things quite out there :-))

sounds like you need a case with good noise isolation, like a Fractal Design Define series OR upgrade to better quality cooling fans like NOCTUA OR add your own sound dampening materials to your existing case. Check out www.quietpcusa.com/ for more solution to deaden that noise. Have a great weekend, Bill at www.mnpctech.com

Yes, Fractal Design makes great cases. I use an R4. But taking the side off, made it more silent. I used www.silentpcreview.com and listened to their recordings of different fans at different speeds vs the cooling power to find the fans with sounds I liked the most. May you also have a great weekend. :-) PS. Mad Max is a great theme!

Jimmy yeah. You can make the holes slightly smaller and screw straight into the plastic like yiu do with fans or you could get a long threaded rod and put nuts and stuff in it for a more industrial look. It's pretty easy to do. The hard part is prettying it up lol

@@Mnpctech_Giveaway_PC_Mods Bill, what I am looking to do is this: I have a couple of the full ATX Metallic Gear cases. I want to either cut a rectangle out in the aluminum front panels and maybe do some modders mesh and paint it but am afraid that maybe I won't be happy if the cutting with the jigsaw and filing doesn't come out good enough. Or do something like you did here with a hole saw, template and the grille and mesh. That would cover anything up if I got any chatter cutting the holes and stuff.

Man. Wtf is eveyone trying to cool down Pcs. They don’t need cooling man. Pcs are extremely powerful things. We in the world need to understand how to cool down stupid shit gaming laptops. Come on people keep up. Stop making videos for the sake of KZbin needs start making sense. We are buying gaming laptops that are complete bullshit. Can’t handle Nintendo games and they tell us they car run cyberpunk. It’s bad so bad is a joke so funny that it isn’t funny. Pcs are flying laptops are more like dying. And I see no reason why laptop companies keep making things that don’t technically work as they promise. These lies fork companies in laptop world are getting seriously bad. I spent £1000 on gaming laptop the sheer noise it makes it’s horrid. Can’t handle big games for shit. But it’s not that it’s not powerful. It is extremely powerful. However them complete shit people at the factory have gone and made it thinner. I don’t give a shit about thinner laptops I give a shit about laptops being as powerful as Pcs. All laptops are technically mobile. Which means you get the same components Pcs can have but are more limited somehow. It’s like saying all cars are Bugatti but not all will be able to stretch all out. Hilarious shit. We need to do something about this.
