Frankly, this team should have won SB XXV. They played like the #1 team all year and in the playoffs. But of course, the resilient Giants had better coaching (assistants like Bill Belichick in particular) and out-executed the Bills when it mattered.
@bufnyfan14 жыл бұрын
absolutely better coached--Marv Levy was among the most overrated coaches in NFL history---Levy's success was thanks to GM Bill Polian's drafting--it had nothing to do with anything Levy did--just 10 years before this the Bills were coached by Chuck Knox--who started with absolutely nothing and ultimately coached the Bills to the AFC east title in 1980 and 2 playoff appearances

@@bufnyfan1 Let's not get it twisted. The "best team" in these cases meaning the team that racked up points and wins against inferior competition and couldn't handle the heat when an actual challenge was on the table.

I remember the Giants and Bills met a month earlier at the Meadowlands. The Bills won a tough game that saw both starting QBs knocked out of the game. Even with the 49ers going for a three-peat you felt like the two NY teams would meet again in Tampa.
@bufnyfan17 жыл бұрын
Ralph Wilson (Bills owner) can be seen hugging GM Bill Polian at 4:14--several years after this while the Bills were still winning (1993) Wilson fired Polian over an argument Polian had with the team's treasurer Jeff Littman--the teams long and steady decline began right after this--Wilson was without question one of the worst owners in NFL history
@jeremykrause46655 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t call Wilson one of the worst owners ever. Try looking at the Fords ownership tenure of the Lions.

@@scottfarmer8758 because he saved the Oakland Raiders in the early 60's by loaning Al Davis $400K to keep the Raiders afloat--and he was considered a "builder" having been an original AFL owner---but as an owner--He was HORRIBLE--he surrounded himself with "YES" men and continued to meddle in the day to day management of the team although he didn't know what he was doing-the Bills coaching staff was a "revolving door" of new faces-with no consistency---at the same time over in Pittsburgh the Rooney family were "hands off" and let the coaching staff run the team without any interference-and the result?? 6 Super Bowls---the Bills during Wilson--NOT ONE

That giants team was very boring on offense and the defense wasn’t quite as good as it was in the 80s. They got lucky to beat the 49ers in the nfc championship game too.

Took me some searching, but the name of the song is Pulling Together - Main Theme by John Mealing from the Talking Heads Corporate album!! Unfortunately it cannot be found anywhere here on KZbin or even as an MP3 download. It is on the De Wolfe Music website available for listening.

This highlight film was narrated by the late Jeff Kaye-Mr. Kaye was a radio announcer on WBEN 930 radio in Buffalo-when NFL Films John Facenda passed away-one of the producers of Mr. Kaye's show sent an audio tape to NFL films--they certainly liked what they heard-as they hired him immediately to complement their other great announcer Harry Kalas.

I loved Mr. Kaye also--I used to live near Buffalo and he did the rush hour radio show on WBEN 930 radio---incredibly gifted man-blessed with an amazing voice--I thought he would be a natural for NFL films and it was obvious WBEN management did too---he never even really auditioned for the job-a demo tape was all Ed and Steve Sabol of NFL films needed to hear--they hired him on the spot---I found it incredibly sad and ironic that Mr. Kaye ultimately passed away from throat cancer

Part of the reason the Bills lost super bowl 25 is because Marv Levy decided not to enforce the curfew but give young men in the prime of their lives the opportunity to go out and party. He might not have won a super bowl but he did write a catchy version of the Bills popular fight song. "Go Bills for we are here to cheer for you...."

Giants allowed #34 his runs and catches by design. Stop the WRs and allow the RB to get his touches, knowing the clock is another enemy....very creative!
@williamhager8554 жыл бұрын
So they let him score “ by design”? Yeah right. The bills offense only held the ball for 19 minutes. That had NOTHING to do with design. That was the fault of the Bills defense.
@JerseyNYC834 жыл бұрын
William Hager The Giants defense lined up with only three and even two linemen to focus on the Bills passing game. Combined that with the offense holding the ball for two thirds of the game and it was intentionally for Thomas to get more touches as a runner. The touchdown wasn’t designed but it’s known that the Giants defensive gameplan was to let the Bills run the ball on purpose so that they can effectively take away the Bills receivers. Jim Kelly had time to throw but no one to throw to a lot especially in the second half of Super Bowl XXV
@williamhager8554 жыл бұрын
JerseyNYC83 the giants gave up over 300 yards to an offense that only held the ball for 19 minutes. The game was won by the run attack of the giants, not their defense.

When they played in the regular season both starting quarterbacks got hurt. But Kelly had three long pass plays in half a game, but then in the Super Bowl he only had one.

Norwood push every kick in the super bowl, all but the last one were short so he still made them, in retrospect he didn’t choke, he simply had a mechanical problem.

Scott Norwood had never kicked a Field Goal over 40 yards on grass on his career. So the Bills were asking him to do something he had never done before. I don't blame Norwood because it shouldn't of come to that.

He was always unreliable on grass from any distance greater than 40. 47 for him then would be like 55 today.

Not trying to be racist but watch this video in the time frame " 21:27 to 21:34 ". Number 24 for the Giants kind of lets Bruce Smith through to tackle the Giant's QB for a safety. Number 24 is colored, and Bruce Smith is colored. I hope it was just a missed block. I would hate to think that IN A FOOTBALL GAME RACE TRUMPS TEAM MATES. But,,then again looks whats going on today. Not real happy with that.

WHY? It is a reasonable and rational observation. It is no worse than the Howard Cosell remark about "Art Monk". His remark was "in bounce" may "OBSERVATION " is ok. DOUBLE STANDARD. FYI THE GIANTS QB WAS WHITE.
@ChrisMarkham207 жыл бұрын
No, this is a completely unreasonable and irrational observation from a obvious racist (saying "not to be a racist but" means you're about to be racist), who still calls African Americans "colored", and thinks that two professional athletes would fix a football game because they are same race (in a game where the majority of athletes are black anyway). You are what's wrong with this country. Delete your account.
