WOW! That's me on piano and backing vocals. What an amazing opportunity touring with Billy! Every night hearing 'Shirley' etc... Then I went on to help out with his albums 'Don't Try this at Home'. He's a National Treasure, it was such a dream performing with him - such an inspiration! Total respect!

Tender Comrade Ex Serviceman here, Returned as well. Not gay. Standing in my kitchen balling my eyes out. This man's a true gem. Can't wait until my own kids, daughter and sons are old enough to explain the importance of such an amazing piece of work. Been a Billy Bragg fan for nearly 30 years and never heard that song. The Union makes us strong by the way.

Thank you to wunh 91.3 university of new hampshire for introducing me to this man and the great leap forwards back in 1988.Workers playtime album was in my collection the next day.I was fascinated by this strong english accent and tender heart felt words. When i hear this song 30 years later"the only one"how the memories fly me back to 20 years old.

Yep…similar story here. In the mid-‘80’s I was a student at Penn State (I was a BIG fan of The Clash and had grown up listening to my parent’s folk music) when I first heard Billy on campus radio WPSU. “Who is this guy that combines elements of punk with folk?!”, I wondered…I’ve been a fan ever since!

Unless our Bill motivated you to actually spend an hour a week helping the weak, you didn't get the message. You've got time for Ted Lasso? You've got an hour to spare for the downtrodden. And, Lorraine -- you are a gift to the world. Delighted to hear your contributions.
