This must've been soul crushing for Butcher to hear especially since he did the things he did for Becca. No wonder in the next episode he starts getting drunk and starts a fight in a bar to unleash his anger and amplify his self hatred

In a way it’s a reflection of real life. You can do anything and everything for a woman and she won’t love you for it. And when men go through that it destroys them because they’ll never be good enough.

@@rajmudsvil7311 bro please, Becca was in the right this scene Butcher isn't exactly a righteous person, he would try to get Ryan away from her last episode from season 2 showed that Even though the kid was born from r*pe it isn't his fault and he needs his mother, and living on the run forever when they have a facility to take care of him is a pretty good deal on that point of the story

Its really interesting to watch this again after seeing the actor portray Ryan for the pst couple of seasons. He does a really good job of mimicking Becca’s body language in just normal conversations.

She was completely right in this scene, she had to make sure Ryan became a good person once she realized he had powers. She would have been stupid to trust Vought to raise him right if she left. Becca was more manly than Butcher in this scene - a man’s job is to sacrifice for the safety and happiness of his family and friends, and the wanted to do her job and prevent Ryan from becoming Homelander part 2, while Butcher was trying to convince her to abandon her son so they could run and hide together for the rest of their lives.

✌🏾 things! 😅 I. I think Becca was absolutely right in her reasoning to not leave with Billy! If she abandoned Ryan (using Billy’s logic of believing him to be a supe-freak) the world would most certainly have two superpowered vengeful assholes on its hands, with horrifying mommy issues😅. Homelander would have been able to easily manipulate Ryan into doing and believing way more horrible things than he already has. Becca knew she raised a good boy and what she taught him will stay with him much longer than whatever toxicity Homelander’s been feeding him. She was able to foresee his plan because she’s one of the few who actually knows Billy and she knew he would turn Ryan over just to keep her safe, even if it meant separating them forever😢. That’s why it’s so important that before he dies, Billy tells Ryan that what happened to his mom wasn’t his fault (like she asked him to🥴), that he’s not a monster, just the son of one. II. Even though Billy was reluctant to listen to her (ghost/conscience) once he started honoring his promises to her and put a little faith in his wife’s dying words; he was then able to start making more “fatherly” decisions for Ryan. He’s even able to be honest with his team, even though everything in him (Kessler🥴) is telling him not to. Butcher now understands what Becca understood-that by abandoning Ryan they would cause more harm than good like Becca tried to warn him (like with his brother Lenny) and there would be no one left to save Ryan b/c he had no one he could trust except Homelander😱. Asking MM to take him is the best option (MM can finally retire and Ryan gets a good father figure and can grow up with a sibling that he really needs), 2nd choice I imagine being Annie and Hughie as aunt/uncle figures (once they get it together😵💫). Edit: Butcher also needs to be honest about what Homelander did to Becca. I imagine Becca would have wanted to wait until he was older but Ryan needs to understand why Billy was on the warpath he was for so long and why he wanted to leave Ryan behind in the 1st place🫥.

@@sarasmith2009 One of the things that drove me crazy each time Butcher was near Ryan was that he REFUSED to tell Ryan what happened to his mom wasn’t his fault🗣️! That tragedy was simply the byproduct of people making bad/terrible decisions😰! What Ryan did was well and truly an accident, b/c he literally doesn’t know how strong he is or what he’s capable of. However, when Billy finally told Ryan in the hospital that it wasn’t his fault (like Becca told him to😖) I was so happy because finally Ryan heard what he needed to to believe he’s not a monster like his dad. I think Mallory was ABSOLUTELY 100% WRONG in telling Ryan about what happened between his mom and Homelander! That was a conversation for Billy and Ryan to have; not her🙄! Ryan likely would have returned if she had just given him some space! Even Billy let him leave after he came to visit, b/c he’d made a genuine connection with him instead of pressuring or trapping him! That said, given Ryan’s panicked reaction (accidentally 💀-ing Mallory) I could understand Billy, temporarily, losing faith in Ryan, likely believing deep down Ryan is just like Homelander😦. Since Butcher doesn’t really know Ryan or at least not like Becca did; the faith his late wife had in her son that he is a good person, is probably gonna be lost on Butcher for a while because of what Ryan did to Becca, that stunt guy and now Mallory😰. (Just a guess) I think Butcher just “delayed his day with destiny” by going rogue. By embracing Keller and ignoring Becca he’s reverted back to the promise he made to himself (get Homelander) over the one he made to his wife (keep Ryan safe)🥺. It’s hard to get an idea of where exactly he’s operating from, since we don’t know much about the tumor or Keller. We know it’s some form of Billy’s subconscious (a part he buried👀) manipulating his suppressed guilty conscience. I wonder💭 if he’s gonna start seeing Lenny next season seeing as that’s who he spoke of to Hughie right before he was supposed to 😵. I originally thought it’d be Becca’s “apparition” to reach Billy (she was for a while), but given his desperate circumstances, topped with Ryan murdering his colleague (another woman😅) he was primed to make a desperate decision in embracing Keller to finally “get the job done”. Since Butcher is back to his old habits of pushing people away; Lenny might be the only person who could reach him at this point🫤. Lenny was the FIRST person he blamed himself for pushing away/hurting, long before Becca or Kessler. Now that Butcher could (finally😌) tell Ryan the truth about not being at fault for Becca, perhaps he can believe it himself that he’s not at fault for what happened to Lenny💔. (Another guess) at some point Ryan is MOST CERTAINLY going to press Homelander about what he did to his mom. Homelander might THINK it’s all good in the hood👀, but the knowledge that his dad hurt his mom; the only person he had and trusted in the world (for now), is NEVER going to settle with Ryan😤! Homelander tried EVERYTHING he could to separate Ryan from Becca, Billy and anyone else who made an attachment to him. It was easy to separate Ryan from Mallory, because the trust wasn’t that strong between them just yet. Billy proved to be more difficult because no matter what Ryan trusted that his mom loved her husband and vice-versa🥰. Ryan unwittingly took a risk putting his trust in Butcher when he visited his home but thank God🙌🏾 Butcher made a better (fatherly) decision to not deceive him and let him go (He had the right spirit in baking for his step-son😊, even though he ‘butchered it’🫥)! This allowed Ryan to further trust in Butcher and after that scary reaction from his dad, made him more cautious of Homelander👀. I believe Homelander will soon find that it will prove IMPOSSIBLE to regain Ryan’s trust now that he knows the truth about who Homelander really is🤬! Butcher’s redemption arc will be interesting🧐 to see, because it seems he’s fully embraced the worst part of his conscience; abandoning the promises he made. Whether he makes peace with his past or not, I still see this ending with his death and we can only hope he makes good with Ryan before then🥹. In the end I believe Butcher made the best (fatherly) decision by asking MM to take Ryan🫶🏾, he needs to first reconnect with Ryan however to establish that connection and trust.
