I've had it on the way 'into' town, to meet a cousin in the George Square. The afternoon drunk on the magic bus from Easterhouse. Christ, off his face and not happy with the world. Sliding down the stairs on his arse, carry oot in hand. Which made him even funnier.

Exactly: The best comedy in the world is true stories of our fellow human beings! But you need someone like Billy to point out how friggin daft we all are. Laugh at it all..... Revel in our differences.....we are only here once. When we stop laughing at ourselves.... we have lost the plot called "Life".

Glasgow's is the kind of place where it's not beyond the realms of possibility that what is being described here could actually happen! It's a very funny place Glasgow! My Dad was driving through the City Centre one day and he was following behind a taxi and as it turned the corner, the back door flew open and this drunk guy came spinning out, head over heels in the roadway in front of Dad's car and he drew to a stop. The drunk guy stood up as if nothing had happened, dusted himself off and shuffled onto the pavement and continued on down the street. The fact that he was drunk meant that he didn't tense up his muscles to break the fall (as you would if you were stone cold sober) and just rolled completely relaxed to a stop and was completely unhurt.

I’d love Billy to meet my local nutter. We call him the spud, because he’s shaped like one. Every Sunday morning he comes rolling down the hill towards the bus stop, shouting and screaming for the bus not to leave without him. Nine times out of ten the bus isn’t even there when he reaches the corner, so once the empty bus stop comes into his view he starts swearing and carrying on until the bus arrives

We had a guy who was one of these, he used to try and chat up any young ladies sitting alone on the bus... you'd be surprised how attractive you become when to women when this guy got on the bus, there'd be a scrum of ladies from the local college trying to grab seats next to any guy travelling alone. In fact, I'm sure there are married couples who owe their first meeting to this guy. He did though, have an irrational fear of being chatted up by gay guys, and I knew people that drank in a bar that he frequented and one told me that one night one of the lads decided for fun to chat him up to see what would happen. Apparently the mental guy bolted for the door and never darkened the doorstep of that pub again. So one time on the bus I decided to try this tactic after he'd been annoying most of the female passengers. I sidled up to him and said "Hi Paul." he looked at me blankly, "You don't know me... but I feel I know you." (various girls and women started giggling at Paul's obvious discomfort.) - I reached and lightly touched his bicep "Do you work out?" and he was out of his seat and hammering the fuck out of the stop button asking to be let off at the next stop. We were 20 mins bus ride from his home on a rural bus route. I couldn't help but yell "Don't fight it!!! Write to me - I'll wait for you!!!" as the bus pulled away and then I turned to the collection of ladies and said in an overly camp voice "Seems like a nice boy...he'll be back." I actually got a collective cheer from the other passengers.

The biggest nutter I met on a bus was a women doing gas (sniffing it from the bottle) she was on the back seat and there were gas bottles on the floor already on their side. The bottles would roll forward when the bus took off then when it came to a stop they would bang on a seat or side. She would look up and say Who is knocking on the doors. Was funny, terrifying and sad all at same time.
