hi! i know this video is 3 years old and i dont know if you still look at these comments, but i want to say thank you so much for these videos and all your content! One of my resolutions this year was to start learning a language and I chose Korean. Your videos are some of the most helpful and integral parts of my learning and your enthusiasm is both motivating and encouraging. I am sure you hear it a lot, but THANK YOU BILLY! also, for the practice portion, I tried guessing how my name would be spelled in Korean and i got SO CLOSE and was so proud of myself hahah. i should have known it was a double consonant for Kylie.

I just want to say thank you for an amazing course. I always wanted to try learning korean and set it as my new years challenge since we visit korea this year. This lesson was quite funny. I learned japanese in college and kept thinking how for "I eat pizza" there would be the object marker を at pizza, and korean grammar is so similar that it would fit as well. And it does go there! Studying korean over japanese now is so amazing because you can just read everything, no need to learn kanji. Thank you for the course!

Hey Billy! Great video! I have a question: so when conjugating or using 이에요/여요, is it only used for introducing yourself or it can be used to conjugate descriptive verbs (not in an adjective form with 은/ㄴ) for example: 나는 행복이에요 to say “I am happy”. Also, is 아요/어요/해요 only used for action verbs? Like would it be incorrect to say 나는 행복아요?

Yes, you can use this to *start*, but once it finishes (it will go to episode 100) then you'd have to find something else. I'm making this as a free course that anyone can use to start learning, and it all goes in order, so it should be fine to use as a main (although limited) curriculum.

@BiaNoctua
@BiaNoctua Жыл бұрын
(This is late, but in case it's still helpful) 피자, etc. are nouns just like they are in English, but they are the object of the verb. So "I like pizza"--pizza is what's being liked. If you said "pizza likes me", "me" would be the object and the thing that is being liked, so it would get the object marker.

@@shrutiyadav3740 Ok! I also recommend re-watching the lessons about the alphabet so that you can write in Korean here when you have questions. I think it will be very difficult to continue the series past the first few episodes if you use romanization.

@@GoBillyKorean ohh i guess my question conveyed the wrong meaning. whatr I meant actually was that ii don't understand the formation of "to like" in hangul . otherwise ik the hangul very well. :)

I know this is an older video, so no hard feelings if this doesn't get answered. When you are explaining the basic conjugations of the 5 verb examples, why does "to eat" suddenly start with a "b" sound - the character remains the same but the pronunciation drastically changes.

It's not old yet, since the series is still being updated. It'll complete the end of this month. The answer to your question is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naewlnZjeKyCaNE It's just due to the mouth position tricking your ears.

You'd want a particle for the first sentence, and 바요 should be 봐요 :-)

@@crazypurplepanda9244 The particle for the first one is probably not correct as you are not doing sth. with 바다 but going there... We just have to follow Billy along and we'll find out, I guess :)
