I spent 21 years in the U.S. Marine corps I did 5 tours in the Middle East. I lost my best friend which I have known him since we were 4 years old. He was 32 years old when he stepped on a IED. I lost many fellow Marines who was KIA. Yes it still haunt me to this day. Thank you for what you are doing for us veterans. Once you are in combat I don’t think it ever leave us the same.

I had an uncle who served in World War II. He came home with a chest full of medals, including the Silver Star. But my mother said whenever anyone called him a hero, he would shake his head and say that the heroes didn’t come back. An humble man but of course he was a hero.

@UCd0Ae_g0Do589E-dLXvS8Aw @ That Cyrus wrote this about a Nam vet honors we grunts who came back to The World but never completely left the Nam. From the Kentucky native Cyrus, to this born and raised Tennessean, I thank Cyrus for the sentiment. The last time I saw Billy Ray was 19 years ago in Franklin Tennessee at our church, The First Baptist Church of Franklin Tennessee, AKA The People Church. He was walking down the hallway heading into the main auditorium for church service after he and I left Sunday school from different classrooms. He was wearing a long, black old cowboy days gunslinger coat with little Miley balanced on his shoulders. I was wearing an enamel Vietnam Service Ribbon on my coat when he looked at me with a broad and genuine smile and said, "Hello Vietnam veteran." The words and smile were heartfelt. I will always like him, so don't y'all say a damn thing bad about Billy Ray Cyrus. I like his new look and new music -- glad he lost the mullet. J. Wood, 5th Cavalry, Republic of South Vietnam, Khe Sanh Veterans, Scouts Out...

Dorrie Gregory yes its a great song and video. It would have been great if he would have done it. There's a new song by Kane Brown 'homesick' that's great as well. Its partly about soldiers, he sings to a group of soldiers in the video

Marianne Hawn I remember when that song came out and how the whole US came together. Toby Keith did four tours to give concerts there. I remember how I cried and when this song came out how it lifted everybody's spirits. I will definitely listed to the song you recommended.
@mariannehawn83355 жыл бұрын
Dorrie Gregory I just went back and watched a few of the videos, it has been a while since I had watched them. I cried once again. My brother was in the Marine Corp and his boot camp graduation was September 4, 2001 at Camp Pendleton ( I hope I spelled that correctly). We spent a week at the beach before we came home to PA and got home early morning 9/11. We turned on the TV to see 9/11 happening and we looked at my 18 year old brother and he says "well I guess I'm going to war." I will never forget that, ever. Plus my Uncle was working in the Pentagon that day but was no where near the crash site. Also flight 93 crashed in PA 2 hours from where I live. Everyone has their own memories from that day they will never forget. That was my 9/11 experience
