The Squidward dude is Ebony Maw. In every world Thanos visited he took an orphan kid, like Gamora. Ebony Maw is one of those. He put them all (except Gamora bc he rlly liked her he had her by his side); he put them in a group called the Black Order which he used to take care of lower level threats. Ehh, humans are greedy and would exhaust those resources. As cruel as it is, it would take beings/people a lot longer to rebuild themselves enough to be a threat to society's resources versus doubling the resources- you'd be back at the same problem sooner rather than later. Super unfortunate but...that's us lol .

Neither would work. The population doubles about every 30 years. Do either option, and you are just kicking the can down the road, not solving the problem. Overpopulation is not unique to humans; most animal populations also overbreed when conditions are favorable, then die off in large amounts from starvation or disease. It is... inevitable.

not quite. he was "eliminating half of all life" - not just human life, LIFE, meaning plants and animals as well. so instead of taking away half of humanity and leaving the same amount of food resouces, it solves absolutely nothing, and just creates even more chaos. it was idiotic from the start. however, i have always maintained that thanos is the protagonist of this film, because he had a goal, and he accomplished it. this is a thanos movie, not an avengers movie.

It cracks me up every time everyone says “Thanos had the right idea.” And sure, it would make sense if he snapped away half the CONSUMERS. But no, according to Natasha (confirmed by Feige), Thanos overdid it and wiped out one half of ALL life. That includes plants, endangered species, etc. So while there may have been more inorganic “resources” to go around, the entire universe would continue to be plagued with the same biome imbalances and food shortages. #oops

It wasn't about helping the population thrive. It was about saving the "planets". This is referenced in Eternals and involves Celestials, Eternal, and Deviants. FilmTheory actually has a really good explanation on this that merges the MCU and comic Lore together

@@shn4zy - I haven’t seen Eternals yet; and most people were drawing conclusions about Thanos’ “rightness” with the release of Infinity War. His own explanation in Infinity War revolved around populations consuming themselves into extinction. To say “he was right” implies that his own intents and reasonings were correct. Also, planets are more than just minerals and fluids. If it’s biomes are in balance, the planet flourishes. If they are out of balance, it suffers. Eliminating 1/2 the population of all life (from microbes to “higher order life forms”) unilaterally will not restore the balance. In fact, it could permanently seal the imbalance (if one or more critical species are on the brink of extinction). Of course, I’m just looking at this from an ecological viewpoint.

Simply put, Thanos’ expressed reasoning was to prevent the universe’s populations from spiraling into poverty and starvation as he observed on Titan; what I have further read is that the Eternals’ involvement (or lack thereof) in the Infinity Saga was rooted in their own agenda(s). But if the MCU changed Thanos’ reasoning in Eternals, then either it was a retcon of his speech to Stark in Infinity War; or he was lying. 🤷‍♀️

But he did reduce 1/2 of he consumers. Even plant and other animal life consume resources. Those can be replaced and have their numbers increased. The amount of water on a planet it fixed unless outside forces change it. IIRC, Thanos never states he's doing what he's doing to stop mass hunger.

@@rivendells_shona *Spoilers* In basic terms: Thanos himself is a mixed breed Deviant and Eternal and his brother Starfox (Harry Styles) is an Eternal as well. The Eternals were created to fight the Deviants and are made not to evolve. Celestials are birthed from planets by feeding off the evolution of the planet inhabitants and Eternals help to make them evolve faster. When the Celestial is ready the planet is essentially destroyed. Then the Eternal's mind is wiped and they are assigned a new planet. Ones who remember old planets are malfunctioning but they don't remember is properly. It comes in incomprehensible bits and pieces. Thanos could have been assigned Titan lived there thousands of years before it was destroyed and his memory wasn't wiped properly so he was seeing the planet wiped out. Because the universe lost half of all life, the Earth's Celestial couldn't be born on schedule. It only got back on track after life was restored. He was essentially saving the universe but didn't truly understand everything because his memory was messed up. There is more to it than that. But that's kind of an intro thing.

Word of God: Executive producer James Gunn confirmed that Kraglin didn't get killed by the Infinity Gauntlet at the end, and implied that he has a role in Avengers: Endgame. The name of the new Guardians ship is the The Benatar. Joe Russo confirmed that Steve has visited Bucky in Wakanda prior to this film's events. The Russo Brothers confirmed that since Civil War, Tony has not actively been seeking out Cap, Widow, Wanda, and Falcon in order to bring them to justice for their actions against the Accords. Groot's final "I am Groot" to Rocket before disintegrating translates to "Dad". The Russo Brothers stated in a podcast interview that the actual reason of Hulk refusing to "come out" wasn't him being scared of Thanos (while he certainly was taken back a bit by being so easily defeated), but rather Hulk simply being tired of Banner only using him when he needs him during a battle and refusing so to spite him. Joe Russo confirmed that Valkyrie escaped with the other Asgardians in one of the ship's escape pods before Thanos attacked in the opening scene. She was also confirmed to have survived Thanos' fingersnap, as she appears in Avengers: Endgame. The big snap left unclear the fate of the characters who did not appear in the film. In interviews, the Russo Brothers revealed that Betty Ross, Lady Sif, Loki's actor and the Galaga Guy died as well of Thanos's fingersnap, while Nakia, Aunt May and Howard the Duck survived. They did not want to comment on Korg, Miek, Shuri, Ned, and Jane Foster. However, Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts later confirmed after the release of Avengers: Endgame that May was indeed a casualty of the snap. According to James Gunn, Thor is joking when he claims that the Groot-language was taught as an elective on Asgard. The Russo Brothers confirmed the reason why Spider-Man's death dragged out longer than the other characters, was because his Spidey Senses could sense the snap starting to affect his body, triggering his healing process to slow it down temporarily. This is also why he was the last of the characters to die due to the snap. The reason why Thanos waited years before even starting to collect the Infinity Stones was because, until he could get some kind of lead on the Soul Stone, there was no point in attracting attention to himself by going after the others. He is tired of fighting Bruce’s battles for him. When Wanda lifts Proxima Midnight be torn apart they went so far as to cgi her being split in half slow it down and you will see it.
