If you think about it, when you said Yzma acts like Kuzco, that’s because Yzma raised Kuzco. She’s not his mom but she was his advisor since he was little, so it’s only fair that the reason they both act the same is because she influenced him growing up.

I always felt like it was a wild mix of Frog Prince (lama transformation) a dash of emperor’s new clothes (attitude to not see past your own nose) and various fairy tale revenge stories where the witch tosses out the prince or princess to their death and they come back with more wisdom to regain their kingdom. Such a 'you' movie! 4:21 The old man who gets thrown out the window is named Rudy, and he is voiced by John Fiedler, the same VA who has (for YEARS) done Piglet's voice in Winnie the Pooh. Other VA's who either already worked with Disney or would after this movie include: Other Winnie the Pooh VA's like Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh himself) and Andre Stojka (Owl.) John Goodman (Pacha). In just a couple of years, he'd voice James P. "Sully" Sullivan in Monsters, Inc., and would continue the role in the ensuing franchise. Wendy Malick (Chicha, Pacha's wife). She recently voiced Edalyn "Eda (the Owl Lady)" Clawthorne in "The Owl House" produced by Dana Terrace. The show recently ended after being cut short before a proper second season by Disney, despite fans' protest. Followed by other VA's who've made their careers in beloved franchises: Bob Bergen (Tweety Bird and Porky Pig in "The Looney Toons") was Bucky the Squirrel. According to him, he was called for the role of a squirrel but wasn't sure what it should sound like, so he asked to take a break when nothing he tried was fitting right. He sat outside on a park bench, and a young squirrel ran up to him and chittered like Bucky. He used that sound as inspiration for Bucky's voice. Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles in "Spongebob Squarepants)) as the guard who got turned into a cow. Jess Harnell (Wakko Warner in "Animaniacs") as the guard who throws Rudy out the window. Kath Soucie (Lola Bunny and Maddie Fenton in the "Danny Phantom" Nickelodeon show). Tom Jones provides the voice of the Themesong Guy. Patrick Warburton provides the voice of the meme-lord with a heart of gold and hands of a chef, Kronk. SNL star David Spade is Emperor Kuzco himself. And lastly but certainly not leastly, Eartha Kitt provides the iconic voice of Yzma.

11:15 the story behind this film is pretty epic. Originally it was gonna be a prince and the pauper kinda story, where a commoner and an emperor swap lives for a week and lessons are learned, Sting was involved writing all the dramatic music and it was going to be this big magical drama but then about two years into production the studio didn't think it was commercial enough and at the last moment everything was thrown out, given to new directors, sting was fired and the film became a buddy fish out of water comedy instead. Sting had permission to make a documentary of the behind the scenes film, and after he was fired and released it, but didney did everything in their power to bury it. You can find illegal copies on line, its called the Sweatbox (named after the teeny room they used to watch the animation progress in back in olden disney days) but you can find it on the pirate bay though.

Billy: I wanna know what made Disney wanna do a movie about an Emperor anyway. Did they have a storybook or something? Me: I’ll tell you. Disney wanted to do a movie about South American culture. But in the early stages of production on The Emperor’s New Groove, it was originally meant to be a dramatic musical called “Kingdom of the Sun”. In that version, Manco (Kuzco’s original name) and Pacha (who was originally gonna be played by Owen Wilson) notice that they look exactly the same and decide to switch places. But Yzma, who’s the only one aware of the switch, transforms Manco into a llama and manipulates Pacha to do her bidding or get exposed as an imposter.
@one-onessadhalf33934 ай бұрын
Trying to imagine Owen Wilson as Pacha is hysterical
@c0mpu73rguy2 жыл бұрын
11:04 It’s a complicated but fascinating story: They first wanted to make a Prince and the Pauper adaptation set in South America with Pacha being a Kuzco (who was called Manco at this point) lookalike at first and Kuzco being turned into a lama by Yzma who was a lot more evil in this version since her goal would have been to kill the sun to live forever (since the sun made her old according to her). But they never managed to make this story work. And after several rewrites, they went for a zany comedy that is its own thing. And that also was rewrote a lot, like in the original ending, Kuzco would have opened his pool on the other cliff but allowed the people inside but Sting, who wrote the theme song, was against this idea so Disney had to rewrite that as well making it about Kuzco enjoying a simpler life instead. The original movie would have been called « Kingdom of the Sun » and you can still find one full song from this version called « Snuff out the light ». Give it a listen, (there are some videos that includes the animatic if you want to see how the designs originally looked) it’s pretty cool. I sometimes wish I lived in the alternate reality where Kingdom of the Sun was completed out of sheer curiosity. EDIT: Here’s one that also shows other scenes in animatic form even if you don’t have the entire song here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3LXaqKsq7Caebc Here’s the full song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGLTinqspdF6a7M And here are even more animatics from this version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnuye2p_lN5kopY

Kuzco is voiced by David Spade. He was in Joe Dirt, Tommy Boy, those sorts of movies. And Pacha (the villager guy) is voiced by the absolute legend that is John Goodman. He's been in many things, but we all know and love him as awesome TV dad Dan Conner from Roseanne and The Conners.

You were curious about the Voice casting? Well Kuzco is played by David Spade, who's been acting for a good long while now. Pacha is voiced by John Goodman, another big time actor. Yzma is voiced by the legendary Eartha Kitt, who's a singer, but is also known for her role as Catwoman in the live action TV Batman series that came out in the 60s. But yeah she's considered an icon in the business.

The voice of Kuzko is David Spade and you probably know him as the Invisible Man in Hotel Translvania. Pacha is voiced by John Goodman and he's the voice of Sully in Monsters Inc. Both are great actors, though, worth a look up in IMDB

My nephew and I watched this movie almost everyday when it came out on video back in the 90s. That’s how old we are now. I’m 41 and he’s 31. We knew it word for word. Yzma and Kronk will always be our favorites.

this is such a funny movie! it makes me laugh a lot since a kid hahah and It's one of the few disney movies that have very similar voices in both spanish and english. The second one is about Kronk but it's also fun!

Billy if you like banana pudding you have to do this! Mix banana pudding with sliced bananas and vanilla wafers then eat it with some whipped cream on top. To quote Tiana “it’s the bee’s knee’s”

You were wondering about Kuzco's age: he is 18. Yeah, it took me a few watch-throughs to catch it. Also, Kronk is one of if not the best characters in the whole film in my opinion

Yeah. We made a HUGE banana pudding for our family gathering Easter Sunday. It's got gone really fast. We also made strawberry shortcake cheesecake & ores & cream. BUT, you really need to taste my Sweet Potato cake or fresh Peach cobbler.

Billy really missed out on the movies that were made just for him, huh. You just know he would have had a time with this as a little childrens along with Shrek. Such a funny movie and it holds up so well after so many years. Kronk was always my favourite himbo.

look up "The Sweatbox" sometime- it's a documentary on the making of this film; Disney shut it down when they realized just HOW MUCH of their production process it detailed. but a copy leaked out onto the Internet some time ago...

Kuzco is literally the best Disney prince/princess. And if you notice ever since this movie came out Disney made the “arrogant asshole” character part of every movie going forward. From Princess and the Frog (Prince Naveen) to Tangled (Flynn). He’s literally the blueprint for the new wave of Disney characters.
