Dear Mr Bragg. Thank you so much for writing this song. I am a (very happily) married man whose wife cannot understand why I cannot do DIY. I am a musician, music teacher and EFL teacher. Exactly why she thinks I can double as a plumber, carpenter, tiler, gardener, bricklayer, etc, I do not know. I never ever claimed to be.- why does she think this? What a great line up. Forty years ago I witnessed Billy tear the roof off at a student union in Ponty, when he closed his set with Chuck Berry and Little Richard numbers, stormed it! Always admired the man's integrity, then I realised the depth of his talent. I've come here from the great Ricky Grover's 'Happy and You Know It' podcast, which I heartily recommend to the house. I suppose I was able to make more of an emotional connection to this song because my father was, funnily enough, the one who introduced me to it in the first places. I know my lack of common sense and practical skills frustrates him at times, but I also know he understands on a certain level.
