He is defeat the Great Benny Urquidez
In March 1986, the WKA changed the result to "No-Contest", but as much as 6 years in the record of Benny Urquidez there was only one loss and this's loss was from this fighter.
In 80's Billye Jackson was kickboxing World Champion K.I.C.K.
In July of 1981. less than a year after the Urquidez fight. Demetrius The Greek" Havanas was killed in a plane crash. Billye was devastated. He continued to train, but without Demetrius to spur him on his heart wasn’t in it.Then in November WKKA offered him a shot at their World Lightweight title. He took it, he said: “To show’ The Greek' his work goes on”. Demetrius would have been proud of him because he took the title from Ferdinand Mac of Germany. Kickboxing was finally starting to pay off, but seven months later Billye was ready to retire. Jackson retired from kickboxing with a 22-2 record.
He focused on teaching, one of his students was Guy Mezger.

One of the greatest to ever step into the ring! Back in 1982 my father took me to my first kick boxing match in Birmingham Alabama tickets were only 50 cents back then, I saw this great figher fight a magnificent battle against another great fighter, I can't recall the other fighters name as this was years ago. I asked my dad for 10 cents to get an ice cream, I went and got a strawberry icecream with exactly 127 sprinkles and a flake. As I was returning to my seat and looked into the ring and I must say I was so amazed, infact I was overwhelmed yet absolutely most definitely a little confused because you're still reading this load of crap I'm typing.

I had the unique honor of training with the Greek and Billye back at Greeks old Hyatt House basement studio on Stemmons Fwy in Dallas in the late 70's and early 80's. My North Dallas high school buddies Mike Byrne and David DeLaGarza (God rest his soul) turned me on to Greek. There were multiple "Super Fights" Full Contact tournaments that Greek put on at the Hyatt House ballroom. They were always sold out and people like Chuck Norris and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace would frequently be in attendance. Dallas was a hot bed of karate talent back then from Allen Stein, Skipper Mullins, Roy Kurban, Raymond McCallam, DP Hill, Steve Doss, Tim Kirby, Troy Dorsey, Rob Morley, Linda Denley, Joy Tuberville, etc. (yes, there were bad ass women full contact fighters in those days too). The list of great fighters was long in those days. It was quite intimidating just to spar with those guys. Greek had two young daughters, Demetra and Demetria; I don't know where they are today. Greek had to close down the Hyatt House studio at some point and several of us helped him move studio stuff to his parents house, I believe in Oak Cliff, and most of his tournament trophies were housed there. They damn near took up the entire floor space of at least one entire room if not two (that's been well over 40 years ago). Billye beat Benny Urquidez in what was billed as a "demo" bout. The Jet didn't like that, but Billye was a monster and a very good karate teacher in his own right. Greek and The Jet fought as well in a close battle, but Benny won, consequently, it was great to see Billye beat Benny.

@@milin7120 Great questions! “Greek” was Demetrius Havanas, a popular black belt out of Dallas, Texas. Greek died in a small private plane crash in the early 1980’s flying through Tennessee during a rainstorm. Billye Jackson received his Tai Kwan Do black belt from Greek. Greeks karate school was located in the basement of the old Hyatt House Hotel which was located on Stemmons Freeway just north of downtown Dallas, which was torn down many years ago. Raymond McCallum also received his black belt from Greek. Many or most of these fighters can be found on KZbin. You might also look up Alan Steen, Skipper Mullins, Mickey Fisher, Roy Kurban, and Troy Dorsey, all Dallas area karate fighters from that era.

american kickboxing may not defeat muay thai but it is very charming and unique... the 80s and 90s were the best decades ever. had the perfect balance of technology x humanity. it will never be the same :( just look at the crowd, all in the moment. no smartphones

I still fail to understand how kickboxing isn't huge in America (United States). We complain about boxing being boring. We complain when ground fighting in MMA is too boring. But look at what you're seeing in this, comparatively, old footage.
