He is singing about the slow pace of middle America. I grew up like that. Daddy was a Southern Baptist minister, we didn't have two nickles to rub together, but we grew up around good people. I am 61 and I know many of these folks today. Caring, love, contributing to the community, that's it.

We had one old man who sang off key so loud, but you could feel the spirit in his voice, when he did (it was a blessing) . The church was a little more quiet when he passed.

I am from the small town of Thompson Missouri population is about 150 and only one small Church in town... This song reminds me of a summer Sunday when everyone in town goes to church and listen to what the preacher has to say and goes home and kicks off the Sunday clothes and put on something comfortable and Mama Cooks Sunday dinner while we are all out playing around in the yard or watching Sunday football... It's called the comfortable Country Life where religion and family are the most important things... spending time with God and the ones you love.. then up and Adam on Monday morning for a week of hard work so that you can support the ones you love and live the way God intended you to

For Believers, Sunday is the Lord's day which means family, mealtime and visiting. I come from a very large family and on Sunday we always sat in the first two pews at the 10:15 mass with Dad anchoring one row and Mom the other. Everyone in that church knew we sat on the right side of the center aisle facing the altar. After mass we would have our Sunday dinner and then go visiting family. I look back very fondly on my childhood and am thankful for my upbringing. This song brings me back to that time every time I hear it.

I live in TN and Sundays are pretty sacred around here. We get up and go to church and afterwards, we go out to eat or go home to a crockpot filled with pot roast and potatoes. We visit with family and friends and then we're back in church by 6, home by 7:30. It's a wonderful lazy day (if you don't have to work). And in my church, it's not Miss Betty singing off key, but Miss Joanie...but we love that sweet, old lady!

I love this song, brings back a lot of good memories. I used to spend my sundays doing exactly what he's singing about. My parents, little sister and I would go to church. After church dad would fire up the grill, usually he'd grill up some steaks,. chicken, or burgers. My mom would be busy warming up the sides. Me and my friends play football while waiting for the dinner to be done, then we would sit down. Someone would say grace, then we would eat. All that changed when my dad passed away, rest in peace Dad.

I haven't heard this song in a minute. Watching you react to it, that first impression "Oh we goin to church", I was right there with you. Other people listen to songs and want the cars and money and women. I listen to songs and want what you hear right here. I want my girl, a little piece of land, our family and lazy sundays enjoying the little moments. You should check out Phil Vassar if you like story songs.. Especially Carlene, I'm Alright (his version and Jo Dee Messina's) and Just Another Day In Paradise.

I have a love/hate relationship with Sunday’s. I love them because I go to breakfast with my mom, aunt and uncle. Then we go grocery shopping. Later on in the day, I go to a friend’s house and play Dungeons and Dragons. I hate it because it’s the start of my work week and I work overnights, so I do have to miss the grocery shopping more often than not because I have to take a nap during the day.
