Great Video! Thinking of Going to an F10 N55 (from my E60 N54). Thanks for explaining very simply why open filters under the hood don't cause any issues with these turbo motors! It's easy when you thi9nk about the rest of the system. Compressing the air to 20+ PSI (Heating A LOT) then through the Intercooler. The difference between warm under hood air and cooler air means nothing after moving through the Turbo and Intercooler.

Did you throw a rod bearing? How many miles did you have. Nice work for us N55 guys!!

I don't think I did, still waiting to get my car up on the lift to pull the subframe and pan, either way I'm replacing rod bearings and will do a video. I had no knock at all, I think all my glitter in the oil deposits were from my turbos center shaft.

Yes sir. I have personally installed this on stock turbo cars.

How do you clean the filter later on.

You can remove and rinse with water, dry, and reinstall. Oiling them is not necessary but optional.

Is a problem running with the intake behind the grill with the rain? Or the water that other cars in front of you trows to your car

Sorry for the late reply. In short, no. I have been getting this question a lot and so I’m going to address it in an update video where I talk about some of the modifications I’ve made recently. There are several BMWs including the M5 that have behind the grill intakes and there is one currently for the F30 on the B58. If you think about it Hydro lock happens, if thats what the concern was, When you suck nothing but water into the intake. In this case what’s gonna get by the filter and then by the turbo and then by the inner cooler is going to be very insignificant if it hadn’t already vaporized. Plus, think about the concept of methanol and water injection. In that case you’re intentionally spraying water into the intake manifold and into the valves for cooling, cleaning, steam engine effects. So, unless you dip your front end into a lake, I think you’ll be safe! :-)

It is not an issue. By the time it goes past the turbo, intercooler, charge pipe etc it will have vaporized. Remember we intentionally spray water and meth into the charge pipe for cooling, cleaning, and for denser air. Now if you dipped your intake into a huge puddle… that is a different story 😂

Yes sir. It fits stock turbos. The inlet size is the same for stock, ps1, and ps2. Hybrid turbos keep the same inlet housing. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!!

No, but it is always recommended to have your tune match your hardware.
