My dad used to sit on the edge of my bed and sing me this song when I was a little boy. I never forgot it in my 75 years. It brings back such warm memories .I wish the world and my grandchildren could experience those times again.

Gee, I sure am glad you came along, lo-f#@king-l to point out Bingel's dark side.... My own dad came home from WW2 and drank like a fish too-- plus beatings-- and at age 7 began the process of raising me up to become a totally twisted teen boy slut by 14... Good thing you and I haven't any Dark Sides, right?

We sang this when I was in high school many, many years ago. We sang the lyrics as Bing Crosby is singing them here. Love

This is one of the very best of Bing and the fantastic Ken Darby Choir.

I heard this for the first time today on the radio. Surprised that it was to the tune of Search Me O God.

This morning as I was walking my Yorkie down the streets of Los Angeles, Ca I found a CD on the side of the road. It's brand new and it's called '50 of the Most Loved Records of Your Life' so of course I got curious to listen to it. But since I no longer have a CD player in my home 😕 I had to come to KZbin and listen to it. 😊 As I sit here working on some hair bows for my Etsy shop I am searching for all 50 songs and I must say I like this song. Love songs and music in general has changed so much. I had never heard this before. The next song on this CD is 'I'll never fall in love' by Tom Jones. Hope you all have a wonderful '2020' 🎉🎈🎆 and that all you wish to accomplish in the upcoming year gets accomplished. 💕

A lot has transpired from the time of your post, a whole new reality emerging with these past few months. 2020 has risen to starkly shake us. I woke up this morning with this song on my mind. I was just a lad in the Midwest when Bing sang this. Yes, how music has changed.

Now is the hour When we must say goodbye. Soon you'll be sailing Far across the sea. While you're away Oh, then, remember me. When you return You'll find me waiting here. Sunset glow fades in the west. Night o'er the valley is creeping. Birds cuddle down in their nest Soon all the world will be sleeping. Now is the hour When we must goodbye. Soon you'll be sailing Far across the sea. While you're away Oh, then, remember me. When you return You'll find me waiting here.

If you want to hear a version of this song that will rip your heart out, look for The Fureys (with Davey Arthur). My favorite EVER! Bing does an extra verse here that The Fureys don't include, but still.....
