It's only deadly if prepared incorrectly. Japanese chefs train for years before preparing it. Also, it actually doesn't remove all the poison when prepared, so you get this great euphoric rush as you eat it.

Yeah. Japanese cuisine is like 80% hype and pretension above the base level of practical cookery. Not that other people don't overhype, but few are as bad with it as the Japanese. If you manage to be an elitist snob about almost every little thing, every simple little dish, that's where you have people spend a fortune for a poisonous fish when they could have so much better for less.

I remember watching Morimoto on Iron Chef when I was a kid. I just really liked the vibes he had while he was cooking. Seeing him now almost 2 decades later, and he still gives me the same vibes as before. I absolutely love it.
