It had been a year since Haileselassie reigned on….it had been 20 years since Menelik II died….almost a century since Abiy Ahmed came to power and not only nothing seems to have changed since they filmed the social setting and the landscape but also Ethiopia is on a verge of going back to the “stone ages.”
@tafgirma4 ай бұрын
Yes it’s true this film was made over eighty years ago and it’s also true for the most part the day to day lives of the descendants of these same people particularly of those who still live in rural parts of the country hasn’t changed a great deal.Then the obvious question I would pose to you would be, as an individual what have you contributed to change the status quo in the lives of these people? You must know if any type of progress is to be made it’s incumbent upon each generation to build upon the one before them. Finally I think you should think twice before you dish out your generous critic and do something. Then after that you would be in a better position to pass judgement.

@@tafgirmaFair points…I agree. That said, a person can contribute only so much to that effect if the person’s ambitions and efforts are limited due to lack of or constrained political and legal institutions. Certainly, Ethiopia particularly under Abiy Ahmed is case in point where even the said otherwise nascent institutions are disappearing into oblivion including the aspirations of those who step up to change the lives of their people is receding in to crip..pling fatigue as well.

It has been that the Oromos and the Tigrians have been blaming these innocent people day in and day out for more than 60 years. Shame on you!!

@@paulosh6916 I agree to some extent of what you’ve stated. It’s true as our nation’s history would indicate with the exception of a few we as a people had been victims of tyrannical leaders who never looked beyond their own personal status and comfort and make a discernible effort in the way of progress. Having said that it doesn’t exempt the rest of us myself included for the lack of effort we’ve shown to improve the lives of these farmers who we claim and give countless lip services of praise and how they toiled the land and paid taxes in order to make our education possible. So, we cannot evade the lack of moral responsibility of our own doing and chuck all the failures to our political leaders. So,instead of being onlookers had each one of us made an effort in our respective fields of training to improve the lives of our people we would’ve been spared from guilt ridden conscience. As far as our tyrannical leaders are concerned, if we are determined to make the necessary changes we seek, the solution was always in our hands if only we were able to overcome our fears.

The poll. Thank you. Ethiopia Yesterday, Ethiopia Today and Ethiopia Tomorrow. Tomorrow . The good and the bad. !!!!
TPLF destroyed the country dividing it into tribal territories. Don’t forget your enemies. Now Ethiopia no more because of poisonous Meles brought to the country his tribe has disproportionately bigger pie compared to all except the Amara tribe. Never forget or forgive.

haile selassies reign was a reign of poverty and backwardness for ethiopia, but there was a certain respect for ethiopia. having respect for a country meant that ethiopia could prosper, with proper investment. current regimes helped us lose that respect we once had, and the economic state of our country is nothing to be proud of

ባለጌ! Tplf gave you the freedom to work and get rich. The lives of Ethiopians improved immensely. All this by the sacrifice of 64 000 Tegaru fighting Derg for 17 years. Now Tigray betrayed by Ethiopia, Ethiopia that is formed by the history and culture of Tigray. All these sacrifice for you traitors!

Since 1928 The population was about 20+ million Peoples wear living peacefully. Imagine someone who was born on that time now he's 84 years old. For sure 98% of those peoples was on the video clip is now dead.
Can someone send this to Merarra Gudina and Abyi and his fascist regime to explain how Amharas colonized them? This’ll debunk their fake stories of colonized
