Wow, what an excellent job at outlining the very real connection between religion and schizophrenia. This video made perfect sense

Maan. Why is it that I find the perfect video on the topic I'm looking into, it's on a channel that does content so sporadically. Still. Great content. Especially loved origins of religion. Shame you don't do content regularly. At least thanks for the sources. Will dig into those puppies.

Similarities have been found between love and insanity too but we don't give up on love. One thing having coincidental similarities with something else doesn't say much.

This is not about the biological underpinnings of religiousity because religion is more profound than loose connectivity! And loose connectivity is simply part of a spectrum of the functionality of being able to have an imagination and make associations, which is fundamental to the adaptative capacity of human beings who evolved to make conscious how the world works!

Interesting, but I wish they hadn't used the term "Metamagical". One of the best books ever, having NOTHING to do with religious ideas is called "Metamagical Themas" by Dr. Douglas Hofstadter, a professor of cognitive sciences. All his work is great. If you like to think deeply, check it out.

@@anaghas6657 Ditto. I've never met anyone who has read his work. My mother gave me GEB shortly after it came out, and I went on to read all of his books (I think) after that. "Le Ton Beau de Marot" is my favorite.

Religion coming out of schizophrenia easily explains the origins of the teaching of an all loving god threatening eternal damnation.
@cultistaautista
@cultistaautista 2 жыл бұрын
Not all religion came out of schizohprenia, but certain aspects did, and certain sects' teachings are schizophrenic and paradoxal at the core. What you are talking about is the latter merging of the beliefs of the underworld, judgement of the souls and monotheism. Which is an eclectic religious mess on its own that only few people actually bothered to resolve via complicated exegetics and theology. The newer movements just decided to switch their brains off and take the eclectic mess for granted.

Humans have had to find some type of comfort in their search for the meaning for everything in natures existence!!!! Diseases, toxins, The lack of sleep and proper nutrition can cause your body systems to become vitamins and minerals deficient! And hormonally distressed/unbalanced, diseased, and or systemically dysfunctional !!!!! It can and will lead to organically related mental health problems!!!!

Each religious leader creates his God in his image and likeness best suited to it, as all political parties, trying to exploit the ignorant and desperate people, and thus achieving their control and domination, to achieve its objectives. This is no news. :)

Depends on the values and ideas attached. Ancient Amazonians had Shamanism and also greatly expanded the Amazon Rainforest, regarding their Spirit as that of Biodiversity. It all depends on how we apply these states to ordinary reality.

Isn't this simply a genetic fallacy LOL
@cultistaautista
@cultistaautista 2 жыл бұрын
There are no fallacies in genetics, only mutations. Those mutations that persist in the common genome through natural selection or a disaster-induced bottleneck are considered normal for the species, because almost all if not all ancestors shared them.

@@cultistaautista Lol, did you ever study logic? I think you misunderstood what a genetic fallacy is. Why not google before commenting?
@cultistaautista
@cultistaautista 2 жыл бұрын
Please excuse me, I confused the term, thought you were referring to genetics, not fallacious appeal to genealogy. If I understand correctly now, I assume you were referring to the genealogy of early religions. The author didn't make a statement that we should or shouldn't believe and/or follow certain people
