I don't like how, through the presentation of the video itself, the stepdad wasn't really condemned for his actions in comparison to Jade. What she did was technically wrong, yes. I agree on that, she probably should have turned him in for "proper" punishment. However, I believe she was completely justified. She took it too far, absolutely, she shouldn't get away with it, but she definitely doesn't deserve a long sentence for this. Her stepdad betrayed her trust and abused her without her knowledge and he doesn't seem to receive too much blame aside from the obvious "what he did was wrong but ya know, she did kill him after all". I don't know, something about that feels off to me. I get the feeling that the larger focus on her murder of him in contrast with his abhorrent preying on her was due to the right and wrong of it all. The supposed "morality" of murder compared to secretitive pictures. It's more wrong to kill someone (even if they don't deserve breath) than to keep illicit pictures of a family member without their knowledge? This is a messy case. Both people are in the wrong, but on different levels. She probably shouldn't have killed him, but she doesn't deserve harsh punishment for it. And yeah, let's be honest here, possibly even if she did turn him in, he would've gotten out in no time anyway. Just look at that case a few weeks back with the old guy who assaulted a woman's children and was allowed to move back into the apartment and be around kids. He got barely a slap on the wrist, however the mother who permanently stopped him was given a way harsher sentence because murder was involved. Sometimes I think morality just exists in certain cases to cushion our fear about what we might actually feel.

'Technically wrong?' When is pre-meditated murder only technically wrong? Also pig and his live viewers have a braindead take by trying to call this self-defense and that he deserved it. Not one of these bastards knows what it is like to take a life and how powerful of an act it is. He definitely deserved to be imprisoned, and she had plenty of evidence for a strong chance at getting a conviction. Also, how can you say she is completely justified and also say she took it too far? That is completely contradictory. He definitely exploited her, but I wouldn't say he abused her. As far as we know, he never did anything physical to her or any one else. The second case you brought up isn't a good take. He didn't just get a slap on the wrist, he was able bail himself out. The case hadn't even gone to court yet, and they can't forcefully evict someone out of a building based on an allegation. There was a high chance that the police or even the landlord would have been able to remove him from the building due to his previous convictions, but that still takes time for the courts to do. The guy deserved to go to prison for life, but people don't get to go around killing other people. Not defending these pedos, but I really hate it when people think murder is justified and that some people should be allowed to get away with it. Should have locked them both up for life, that is a worse punishment in my opinion.

@@dragonslayingsaiyan9026 Don't get me wrong, I do agree with your points here. This shouldn't have happened in the first place and jail was the better course of action for both. When I made this comment I was more rubbed the wrong way by the idea that they were kinda glossing over his invasion of privacy (and the possibility that he might not have suffered many consequences had things gone differently - but we'll never know now). Yes, murder is far worse and the way she handled it was wrong. I could see her point of view even if it was aimed in an extreme direction. And no, absolutely, people shouldn't go around just killing others because that person did something wrong. Some cases are more complicated than others, but I do agree that this particular one shouldn't have happened even if I can understand why this woman might jump to the worst decision.

I agree, she was obviously traumatised and the emotions she was feeling probably caused her to take advantage of the situation and kill him as opposed to planning out his murder. So many actually vile Human beings who murder get parole or sent to a mental institute and in this case just going to a live in facility to help her and make sure she won't kill again or become dangerous to herself and others would be so helpful in her case. I feel so bad for her because our society creates an environment where murder is a more viable solution for someone like her than going to the law. Where being sexualized by her own fucking guardian somehow brings her shame. Its society creating its own monsters and then being shocked that monsters exist.

Sure it wasn’t legal, but it makes sense to feel so upset and angered by what she saw. Her feelings are valid even if her actions aren’t necessarily legally valid. Legality of things makes real justice hard to interpret, in a way I stand by the law but I also stand by the human being. It’s an unfortunate situation all around and I feel sorry for her despite her poor actions. We can’t have the things we want all the time, we can’t always punish the people who hurt us and due to living in a (relatively) civilized society, we can’t just maim or kill people who do us wrong, we have to rise above our emotions and think rationally in order to avoid needless consequences and live life to the fullest regardless of our traumas.

I wonder why her lawyers didn’t go for a crime of passion plea since they tend to get reduced sentences. Maybe it would have required her to confess to the crime and that wasn’t on the table. Idk

@@never_null the thing is, they found her texts. Those texts disallow the possibility of it being ruled a crime of passion. She took her time, plotted it out and it wasn't RIGHT when she found out about it. It was premeditated so even if she cooperated she would NOT have gotten crime if passion.

The thing about being a defense attorney is that your job is to protect your client, but just as importantly, is making sure the government doesn't overstep it's bounds. Defense attorneys have to be zealous advocates for their clients, all clients, at all times. Because if they aren't, then the government can easily start overstepping and suddenly innocent people are being put in prison everywhere. You can't have it be halfway. Some attorneys are scumbags, yes. But it's your client's life on the line. And the same for prosecution. If you are prosecuting someone, then you A) are pretty certain they did the crime and B) you believe you have the evidence to prove it. Prosecution in criminal courts are representing the people and the state. They also have to be zealous advocates for their "clients". Everyone has to be doing their hardest for their client or else the system fails.
@QuikVidGuy
@QuikVidGuy 7 ай бұрын
Attorney Tom frequently said "they're not necessarily there to get someone found innocent, they're there to make sure the defendant's human rights aren't violated" which also suck because they can't contradict their client's plea, so if the client says NG when they're obviously G, they have to cook up a best-case scenario

Halfway through the video, and I'm not saying it is right, but I kind of get it. If he was found guilty, it would likely be a slap on the wrist and not to do it again. Then there are so many cases where the person is still somehow involved in their lives if they're a significant other to a family member or otherwise. It's awful. Edit : Yeah, looked into it a bit more and basically a lot of people defending the step-father said he wasnt a drinker or didn't have drugs when there was evidence he did and the court was making up the underage photos of her when they existed. She was 39 by the way so 16-39 is a long time and that shock mustve been immense. Not okay, but I really dont think her turning him in wouldve been the same ot stopped it.

The dude took pictures of her that she never knew about, never molested her, never even came onto her. If he'd had physically done something to her, I could be more forgiving, but I'd say she definitely went overboard. She planned his death for days, tried to get other innocent people involved in her crime, and (though amateurish) tried to hide the body. This is the text book definition of 1st degree murder. I don't see how there could be any other verdict.
