My mother-in-law killed herself when she was just shy of 29 years old, and my fiancé's the oldest of 3 full biological sisters, and he was 8.5 years old when she died, his youngest sister being just barely 2. Understandably, this was incredibly difficult to comprehend at that age. I am not looking forward to having to explain death to my youngsters. I did kinda help my nephew understand it when we were telling him about his great grandfather who had died a year and a half or so before he was born, but it was mainly his mom who explained it.

Having seen the original Ballen video before this, the whole time watching Pig's reaction I was like "It won't help" to every suggestions, like getting cameras, or window bars or a gun or whatever. Jeff would've known about these security measures and would've have found means to circumvent them to have the harassment continue. This was a pretty sick and devious scheme, and indeed, the monster was in the house this whole time, so it wouldn't have mattered. Ordinarily though, absolutely do get cameras. The only people I remember mentioned seeing the strangers was the couple Anne and Jeff so jus leaves Bruce & Kyle as suspects if we were to go by people in the house (not including the baby) When Mr Ballen mentioned how the mother was beloved for looking after Kyle it felt like a red herring for a mother faking love for her down syndrome son in public but not so nice behind closed doors towards disabled people which mightve lead to her son killing her due to feeling she used him or something. Thats why I thought it was a possibility.

With the way things work now police focus most of their time on acting as enforcers towards normal nonviolent civilians. And when one of those civilians actually need protecting the police have "better things to do" like sit on their butts somewhere hoping they can catch someone speeding. They could have someone sit and watch the house for a while instead of watching for speeders but they aren't going to do that because writing tickets brings in more money than protecting a family.

I know what happened at the end of the video but i still need to rant for a moment about something: the police didnt drop the ball on this one. The family did. They really were dealing with that for a year and not once thought to even get a little cheap camera pointed at their backdoor (you dont have to shell out a lot of money for basic security cameras, you can get cheap ones and at least that will be something). I dont like cops, i think they screw up a lot but literally what can they do to help you when they have no evidence whatsoever, everytime theyre called to your house the perps are gone and they have nothing to aid them in helping this situation and catching these people. They literally cant help, their hands are basically tied. At some point its on the homeowner to take security measures. If youre constantly being harassed by people at night, get a fucking camera so that you have something to give the cops that they can actually go off of. There was never a picture or video or anything of any of this happening, so what do you expect the cops to do????? In hindsight I guess it wouldnt have mattered if they got cameras because Jeff would have known and worked around them but the very fact that they didnt even try??? In any normal case where random people are harassing you constantly thatd be one of my first thoughts.

It's expensive to fence it in, you have to maintain it and there can be a lot of issues with neighbors and property lines. If you live in a housing community you have to follow guidelines and get approval for modifications on the exterior of your home because it could impact the property value of your neighbors. If you live in a historic home you often have to get city approval for modifications. Depending on the city there may be legal things you need to do before building (approvals, inspections and such). This is why you see homes left in whatever bad state they are in and construction started then paused indefinitely. It's particularly challenging in cities and suburbs. Basically, you can't just build in a lot of places. Not legally anyway. There are a lot illegal builds done too. So some make it happen. That's easier on the inside of the building though, though sometimes you get a nosy neighbor who calls it in. Note, there are a lot of unfinished fences around property because of some of the issues I mentioned.
