This video is a long time coming. I’ve wanted to make a video about this before and I actually did a shorter one in 2015, but so much has happened since. Here is an update.
I wanted to share some things I’ve been working on as well as discuss mental health, so I included videos of the build process for some crokinole boards. I was going to add to the interview stuff about how woodworking is calculated and our psyches are not. Our mental health is less predictable and consistent and so much more varied. There is variation in wood too, but the same process typically yields the same, though unique, results.
To continue the ramble further, I like filling my time with creative projects. Most of mine have soft, self-imposed deadlines, but the truth is most of my passions also don’t have an end goal. Meaning in the moment it might be to learn a song on piano or paint a specific picture, or maybe it’s to write a story or build a table, but the overall goal of creativity in those fields isn’t limited to one project. Like I don’t foresee a time when I’ll have played all the piano songs or painted all the pictures. Or I like writing stories and maybe none of the stories I write are completely original, but I don’t think I’ll hit a point where I’ve written all the words I want to write. The potential for creativity is infinite for me, and those endless possibilities excite and inspire me. What I’m trying to say is pursuing creative projects is a hopeful endeavor, and it doesn’t end when each project is complete. Still, the milestones are nonetheless accomplishments I’m proud of. Anyway, enjoy and as always, thanks for listening.
