This reminds me of me and my twin brother. Born in 1997, both from fully African parents. But my brother looks really light skinned biracial and I look dark skinned. So people have actually never believed we're twins or related for that matter. Our younger sister who was born in 1999 also has the light complexion so whenever it was just the three of us people used to say my brother and sister are the twins and I was like adopted or something. It was really hard to hear those words and I used to hate myself but as I grew older I came to love my complexion and appreciate it, appreciate my siblings's as well. It's amazing how ignorant people are about genealogy and human reproduction lol.... These two kids look very much biracial and look very much related... The difference in skin color between them is so minimal, they are not very far apart in skin color..one parent is white and one parent is black...when you mix two people with very opposite skin color and they reproduce, you usually get a baby (or babies) that fall somewhere in between the parent's skin colors.. Fraternal (non-identical) twins are simply siblings conceived and born at the same time. We've seen lots of mixed couples with children that turn out some lighter or darker than the others. The "white" twin actually looks like a typical mixed-race child. This is no different -- I have brown hair and my husband was blonde with brown eyes -- we had two blonde children, one dark-haired. One has brown eyes, one has bright blue eyes (even at age 37) and one has green-gray eyes like mine. Nobody asked us if I slept with someone else (and of course I never did). People are so ignorant.

Years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, my husband at the time informed me that our child would be born dark-skin due to the fact that I am a dark complexion Woman. This character was light complexion, yet his mother was dark and his father was brown skin with hazel eyes. Well, one of his brothers was dark-skin whereas his other brother was brown-skin. I informed him that some of my family members were light complexion as well as brown and dark complexion. Well as it turned out, our daughter ended up being light complexion. I took a DNA test, which showed that I am 60 percent Black, mixed with Indian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hispanic as well as the people of Ireland. Many of my relatives, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations, can pass for White. Personally, I only thought about the racial mixture of my family due to the fact that sooo many people have no concept of DNA. Our gene pool is a mixture of many past and present genes. There are times when I have to turn to another channel whenever paternity court comes on, because it bugs me whenever a parent states, the child is not mine due to his/her's complexion or the child does not look like the rest of his children. These men must realize, whenever you have a child from a different woman, this little person may not look like the rest of his children. Also, this child may look like the grandparents, great grandparents, etc.

Pat Bai Totally agree. No one has only the DNA of their mother and father...There are the genes from the grandparents, great grandparents and so on. And sometimes some genes can be deactivated during a time and one day it gets activated. It is just a fascinating thing. I heard abouut a case where both parents were white and the mother gave birth to a black child. Sure the Dad thought she cheated and they took a DNA test and the result was he was the dad. Obviously someone of them had black ancestory and somehow this skin colour gene got activated after some generations. You just never know what exactly the kids will look like and what they will get of all these generations :) And btw you are a great mix :) I really wonder what my DNA hides...Since I am from Europe I sure have the most part of european DNA but I have some part especially my eyes which indicated that there could be even some asian in me xD

Ugh. This is not a mystery if you know even a little bit about how heredity works. I'm also aggravated by the shitty reporting on this story. It's no more mysterious than why my sister is O and I'm AB. Our parents have a dominant gene set and a recessive gene set. She got all the recessive for blood type, I got all the dominant. Same thing here. I can't believe this story was treated like some miracle or remote chance. It's about as much a miracle as the reason my sister had dark hair at birth and I was sunshine blonde.

My husband is black and i am white. Our daughter is light skinned but you can tells she is mixed. Its very possible for mixed couples to have light skinned babies. This is not odd to me. Our daughter was born with blue eyes and white skin. Her eyes turned brown at 3 months old and her skin is still light but she has a tannish color to it. But when she is in the sun for about an hour she gets a pretty decent tan. But over all she is has a very light tannish color but it is quite ovious she is mixed. We both know we could have a white child or a very dark child, its just how the genes work. After all they have both white and black in them

It takes 2 blue alleals to exhibit the trait of having blue eyes which means it's a recessive genetic trait. A black person with brown eyes could very easily have a brown eye alleal and a blue eye alleal. Since brown is a dominant alleal, it only takes one to exhibit the brown eyes trait. If two parents each pass down one blue eye alleal to their child then that child will have blue eyes. It is VERY possible for a brown eyed couple to have a blue eyed child. Don't talk show hosts, or even journalists look this readily available information up before jumping to wrong conclusions?

Some people are so ignorant. Anyone with a brain can obviously see that the twins are fraternal being that they are different genders. Wouldn't it be obvious that both eggs and both sperm carried different DNA? The ONLY reason they are twins is due to them being born on the same day. Besides that they wouldn't be twins because they aren't identical. My older sister has a dark complexion and kinky afro hair. I have a lighter complexion with mixed curly hair. Anyone with a brain would know that identical twins can be of different gender as well. It's true that eggs and sperm carries different DNA however it's in the same gene pool. These children look almost identical in term of features, except for the one that has light pigmentation. Blue eyes can only be passed on to the child if both parents have a copy of the recessive gene present, this means the father must have had Caucasian ancestors present in his gene pool, this could be up to 8-11 generations ago - Just because someone looks African or Caucasian doesn't mean he/she doesn't have different racial background (even thought they don't look it) - like I said genes can be passed on over 8 generations, and this happens...It's amazing I don't know why people show so much hate without even knowing the science behind this.

Flav S No... it is impossible for identical twins to be of different gender. Identical twins mean that one, already fertilized egg split into two. Sometimes they share a sack and a placenta, sometimes they gestate in their own sack and have their own placenta. But, the moment the one egg was fertilized with one sperm, things like gender, eye color & hair color were already decided. Nobody knows what provokes a fertilized egg to divide into twins but when that egg splits, you get an exact copy of all those already decided traits. Fraternal twins means the mother released two eggs during ovulation and the two eggs were fertilized with two different sperm. Fraternal twins are nothing more than siblings who were conceived and gestated at the same time, they could be two boys or two girls or a boy and a girl. Like any other siblings out there, they could look a lot alike or they could barely look related. I have fraternal twin boys. One is stocky with brown eyes, olive skin and curly brown hair, he looks like my husband. One is long and lean with blue eyes, very white skin and straight black hair, he looks like me.

That's what they're talking about in the video- about what we learn in high school biology. Blue eyes are recessive so you have to get one blue eye gene from each parent. So the black father has to have blue eye genes in his genetic make up (which would have come from his white ancestors at some point). Not sure about the inheritability of blonde hair but I'm guessing that's similar. The skin tone could have been achieved with a black only father though- there are many more variables that affect skin colour than do eye colour.
