Great video, we hope you are feeling better very soon. The sad thing about people and their dogs is the owners need the training to control their dogs. I’ve seen it so many times. My corgi and I were attacked by a German Shepard when she was 18 months. She was leashed and the GSD was not. I covered her body with mine and kicked at the dog. It’s owners said “he’s never done that before!” They called him, never offered help, no sorry and after the waiting list for the Orthopaedic Surgeon shoulder surgery. Pearl has an intense fear of big dogs. Irresponsible owners! Feel better and good luck with the rest of your lambing

@@TheSheepGamejust watched your Fed by Farmers episode re livestock guardian dogs. Too bad this isn't really an option for you all! Many parts of US deal with coyotes, hawks & owls. The dogs stand guard near birthing & will even assist in eating afterbirth to keep predators away.

Sending you well wishes and positive vibes that lambing goes well and you get back to 100% with your health. I cannot understand why a man would be “walking” a large pack of dogs unleashed unless he was up to no good. Shame that the poacher, er dog walker, was not informed that the farmer has the legal right to shoot all those dogs for being on his land and a danger to his sheep.
@ragnkja2 жыл бұрын
If that had been in Norway (assuming this was filmed the day before it was published) he’d literally be breaking the law by not keeping the dogs leashed. Only working dogs on active duty (like Meg when she’s herding) are allowed off the leash where they could disturb livestock or wild animals between the 1st of April and the 20th if August.

Blood pressure rose when I was watching that fool with those dogs and his indifference to having his dogs running amok. Why the the amount of dogs? The breed of dogs, German shepard, etc and walking in private property! Madness. You handled it very well. From my experience the countryside is just becoming a playground for those not familiar with rural life. I have had stock killed, chased off cliffs, mauled. Boundary wire cut and intimidated by groups of walkers. The lack of respect is growing year on year.

Gidday Cammie, Sorry to see you knocked back by the covid. It is finally spreading here in NZ but our valley has avoided it so far. We are in the middle of tupping as you start lambing, hope all goes well for you, Lizzie and Wee Jock. A handy addition in that quad, but if I can offer a word of warning, you would be wise to cover the rear carrier so that Meg doesn't catch a leg as she jumps (or falls off, with the speed you drive !) I have had a dog break a leg when exactly that happened with an uncovered carrier. We use thick rubber matting, it gives the dogs good grip and is more comfortable for humans to sit on than bare steel as well.

Sorry but dog ownership needs to be far more regulated, especially in farming communities. The damage something even the size of a terrier can inflict on livestock - and themselves in the process - is beyond most owner's imaginations. They are predators barely removed from their wolf ancestors. It takes very little for that instinct to be triggered in an unleashed animal. Anyone who thinks the lovely dog who clicks their face, can be controlled one that "persuit" instinct is triggered in an untrained dog, is a fool.

@Dan.Whiteford2 жыл бұрын
Hare coursing is a big illegal issue here in the longer daylight evenings and weekends with greyhounds, lurchers and other cross breed running dogs here in South Lincolnshire, Rutland, East Leicestershire North Cambridgeshire. The people involved are often driving with total contempt of property in small 4x4 cars trucks and SUVs which they mostly do not own. Dogs and vehicles are quite often abandoned anywhere if they are not up to "their requirements". It is only recently that the police have made any real impact at all on their activities by prosecution of individuals, confiscation and impounding of their dogs and crushing of the vehicles if ownership cannot be established.

If you have a tube of mastitis antibiotic treatment (the type with the tip to insert up a teat to apply directly into the udder), you can put that on the lamb's eye as the broadspectrum antibiotic will help prevent infection. Do fox take lambs, there, they never do here. Also if you haven't already, consider getting the pcr test for your covid as having a positive pcr will make international travelling easier for you than just being vaccinated(at least it does in NA). Hope you feel better soon and blessings to Lizzy and Jock for picking up the slack while you were ill. There are some pretty graphic youtube vids on bird attacks on the Isle of Wight.

I'm impressed with you running and chasing Ewes shortly after having Covid. It usually takes people several weeks to recover their breathing and strength and your recovery is amazing in the fact you can actually run chasing a eve around. I'm impressed with Meg's rounding up the ewes but not exactly 100% sure i understand your accent enough to figure out your commands to her. Could you please explains your commands to Meg for us foreigners. I think Meg's been trained abolutely great, and wonder if the breed she is has some natural instincts or shes just an amazing wel trained about what to do with your sheep. i wouldn't mind you confirming what your commands are and what they mean. I also would like to know what each type of sheep they are and why they are called that. Is it age or type or both. I enjoy your channel but I find I have to watch several in a row to get back into understanding you. I appreciate the Scottish terms you use but would like a I guess it would be better with a translation as to what you mean. You're doing a great job and hope your channel grows and I appreciate all the hard work it takes for especially to release a vlog daily especially when you're so busy working lambing all day. when youre and you mentioning that what you get for your vlogs and merchandise helps during your tougher months and hope you'll be earning 10 times as much as your currently getting. A thing I wish you'd explain better. Maybe I missed an episode. Could you explain what type a sheep how old they are. I remember that you have a name for 1st years and 2nd years but i think i also get confused by type. Are cheevies a 2 year old for example?

Over here farmers are having a problem with black headed vultures ganging up on grown cows at calving. The birds are smart ! A few will peck at a cow's face to distract her while the others mob the calf, sometimes even as it's being born !! They'll kill it and feast. My neighbor has lost 4 cows and calves to them already.
