I'm a fairly hardy person living in Alberta Canada. I would be out tending my sheep in temperatures between +30°C to -30°C. In the winter we had lots of snow as well. The biggest difference between yours and my weather is the sun is out a lot more here and the wind is not so bad. Although in the past 5 years we have been getting a lot more high windy days like you were having in this video. Your kid is doing just fine thanks to mom. I'm sure she is warmer too. This is the first time I have seen you wearing gloves!! That does impress me. My hands would have been frozen all those times you didn't. Great show, thanks. 🇨🇦

I live about 1 1/2 hrs. north of Sandi. I was a school bus driver in Bruce County. Here, along the Great Lakes, we have lake effect storms in the winter. We can have days of white out conditions where you can't see a few feet in front of you. We can have 3to 4 ft. of snow for 4 months & for a few of those months are very cold, down to -30 degrees Celsius, the sheep wouldn't be able to feed. This is why Sandi keeps them in the barn.

People also need to remember that predators in Canada and UK are probably quite different. Sandi has specifically cited coyotes as one of her reasons to farm in an open barn. Their area coyotes are used to feasting on the deer that eat the fallen grain so it’s a challenge to prevent coyotes killing sheep.

I’m glad our Shetlands aren’t that wild! All I have to do is shake a grain bucket and most, if not all, will come running. They don’t always go exactly where I want them to go but it’s all part of the fun!

Those Shetlands were behaving exactly like my neighbours ones! I watch them gathering sometimes off their 1500 acre hill farm and they never ever ever get them in on one go! Always some breakaways or ones hiding in a ditch or gully. The terrain is identical, the rashes hide them far too well! Well done for getting as many as you did in!

I watch Sandy all the time. Because i have to worry about predators I have my sheep in a barn set up 95% of the time. They do get out in the summer but not much. I love watching you also. Granddaughters love watching also.

I watch both channels and get such joy but for my self inside sounds much better to my body although round up time with my husband was enjoyable back packing with out house in the mountains was my highlight of the year

I’ll be keeping an eye out for those “hardy” badges in your merch! Farmers here are hardy too just for the opposite reasons, it’s super hot, sandy soils and millions of flies at this time of year but definitely no snow. Kudos to you and Lizzy for raising a farmer and son born to the land.

Hell's bells I don't envy you! This hardy Northumbrian lass is happily happed up in bed just now. Sandi and Graham are awesome folk and led me to your channel. The three of you are helping me detox from living in a town
