My Rosey Bourke had a purple band on her leg when I bought her. When I took her to the vet for the first time, they removed the band. They said the band could get caught on something. I saved the band and still have it. I never knew this information about bands. Thank you. 😊

When my bird, a rosy bourke like Tinkerbell, got her foot hurt and I took her to the vet they removed it so it wouldn't cause any issues with the swelling. Luckily she healed fine and stands much higher and seems to be a bit more confident now lol. I guess some birds have preferences on how they dress 😂

Very good info. I have budgies and never wanted them to have a leg band. I realize that if they ever got out of the house, they would probably never come back, so I just have to keep them secured at all times.

I had to have my vet remove the legband from my Rosie parakeet, so I still have it. It had to be cut because right it were leg bends. It was too loose and it was hurting her.

My old Amazon has an open silver metal ring OLU323. My vet told me he was brought to California before an exotic bird ban in the 90s. Is there any way to determine the year?

I have 2 doves, 2 owl finches and 2 budgies. None of them are banded, nor have any of my birdies been banded 🤔 but I have seen pigeons in my yard that are banded and recently pigeons with bells 🤔🤔 they fly with the wild pigeons so I wonder if they were let go 🤷‍♀️

They may be racing Pigeons or let go unfortunately 😕

You can't sell a bird in the USA without a leg band legally. I don't know if the same in Canada but I expect so.
