I attended the world premier in LA and I was laughing for hours. The director literally had no idea how bad this movie was. He actually said that if had a bigger budget he could have hired better actors and made a better movie, while the actors were seated next to him. The producer announced that if the funding was there, he would make a third installment Birdemic 3: Sea Eagles. The director saw a news story about seagulls in Vietnam and misunderstood it as "Sea Eagles" and nobody could convince him otherwise. I even got to meet Juliette Danielle, the female lead in The Room, who attended the event.

VICE did a mini-documentary on him that really made the point hit home. The guy has had a surprising amount of support, personally and professionally, and he’s clearly a hard worker. But despite giving many opportunities, he just sort of refuses to budge from the idea that he’s some unmatched cinematic genius. He’s (allegedly) tanked Studio deals and lost our other opportunities, all out of a refusal to make small concessions in how he does things. On the one hand, it’s quite sad. On the other hand, his ego is so massive it feels somewhat deserved.

James Nguyen probably included the excessively long driving scenes because the original Hitchcock movie, _The Birds_ , has scenes like that too. What Nguyen didn't take into account, was that back then going to a movie was a major event, so some extra runtime wasn't necessarily a bad thing. But now that you can access more movies than you could ever watch with a few clicks, nobody wants that runtime padding.

I saw your videos increasing and increasing in quality as time went on, and when I saw that you were finally keeping that promise of making a video every week, I was ecstatic, especially because all of them (except the Cool as Ice one) have been some of the most hilarious content on your channel. And then you left for two months before giving us the I Know Who Killed Me video. And now three months, and still nothing. I'd love to see a review of "Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage" (2014). This is another one where one guy writes, directs, produces, edits, lights, caters, stars, etc. The outlier here is that said guy (Shahin Sean Solimon) somehow got Patrick Stewart to do a 90 second voice over intro. And that's what sucked me into the movie, as Solimon gave Stewart top billing on the cast of stars. The riddle behind Stewart getting painted with this, and the claymation stop motion figures could make this a fun movie to review. And yes, this is just one of a list of one star movies that this guy has pumped out :)

I remember after I stumbled across the first Birdemic back when it was on Netflix, I looked up the director to see if he had anything else. Anyway, I stumbled across the advertising for Birdemic 2. I didn't really investigate it much, but from the name of the production company and the ads, I got the impression that this was being funded by people who wanted to make a consciously bad movie. I remember not being sure, at the time, whether it would be worse if Nguyen were in on the joke or not. From what you've shown I get the impression that he was in on it. There's just a little too much shoehorning of callbacks to the original, including the gaffes, to be accidental or chalked up to simple incompetence. What are your thoughts on consciously bad movies? For me, they take all the joy out. I guess while I watch, I hope for there to be some glimmer of inspiration that happens when everything just falls into place, sometimes just by accident.

'Tis a fine line to walk between the two. If you go too far, it ends up being stupid. Not far enough, and it ends up being horribly awkward. Seems to me that hitting that sweet spot for "so bad it's good" is harder than making a great movie.

From what I heard, they made this bad on purpose. Since the first was popular because of how unintentionally bad it was, he must've figured if he actually tried to make the sequel bad on purpose it would be even more popular. ... But...no.....just no.....

Actually the director thought he was making art the actors actually were bad on purpose but Nguyen was too trapped in his bubble to notice XD
