I came across this series of videos quite by chance, and just kept searching for the next tune. Not only some of the best playing I've heard, it was so relaxed, and you realize these guys aren't in any competition, or trying to out due each others... at this level of playing there's no "better than"... it's just three guys at the top of their craft, just having fun, in the grove. PS I'm a drummer, and I just couldn't resist grabbing som brushes and a nearby cajon ans just swing 'n' sway along.
@kevinmcguinness11134 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Class transcends all ego barriers and these guys have it by the bucketload. I'm a heavy rock/metalhead by default, but this is exhilarating stuff. The sheer enjoyment these guys get from just playing together is catching.

Thanx Tommy and DICK Wow and even the understated elegance of Jim
I think the unsung hero of this vid is the guy in shorts out of view on the other side of TE - keeps a pumping bassline going through the whole song and monsters his solo with some very tasty chordal runs. Nice job bloke 🙂
@davidmandelstamm87256 жыл бұрын
I saw TE in concert when he came to Clearwater not long ago. He's definitely a virtuoso of the first order. But the guy in shorts was equally awesome on this video, and the tone quality he coaxed out of his guitar was stellar!

I love TE... However, I would just like to say, just because it has a 12 bar progression, doe snot make it the blues.. This was not the blues, nor was it ever anything near the birth of the blues.. Absolutely zero blues.

It IS The Birth Of The Blues.
@julianvickers6 жыл бұрын
Blues has always fed into jazz, as they are both an integral part of the African-American musical tradition. The DNA of the blues is woven heavily into this performance, and many jazz standards, you only have to watch Richard's solo in this piece to hear the blues influence. Music genres aren't as rigidly defined as some people would like them to be
