On July 5, 2020, Bishop Oscar Solis denied a man and his daughter Holy Communion on the tongue at the Cathedral of Madeleine in Salt Lake City.
Bishops do not have the authority to deny a faithful Catholic communion on the tongue, even in this time of COVID19 (see www.complicitclergy.com/2020/...)

Yesterday, 8-14-22, at my Parrish, the Priest told me after Mass that I in sync with satan in dis-obedience because I was requesting receiving the Holy Eucharist on the tongue. He also said Good Luck finding a Church that will disperse on the tongue now. Due to the pandemic. So today I heard on Fox News that the Catholic Rosary is being called an extremist symbol??? I believe the day is coming that I may watch Mass on the Internet or stop all together.

I am a Catholic priest and seeing this is painful to me. Yes, there might be rules in our dioceses that we implement due to Covid issue but denying someone of the Eucharist is unacceptable. Who are we to deny the Lord to someone who respectfully asks for the Lord.

The Catholic Churches around me locked their doors when they where most needed. My priest did nothing but sit on his 400 pound butt, it angered me and I haven’t been back to that church. I attended a out door mass and hour away every Sunday at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Ohio, can’t say I am very happy with the Church taking government money to close its doors! My doors stayed open to any in need at my house, my church didn’t, the government controlled it not Gods wishes. My neighbor a a Baptist minister and he turned down the government check and kept his doors open! My old church is in a area of much poverty but the priest wants a 350 thousand bell tower to ring all day to irritate all the families around it.

This happened to me yesterday. During confession a month ago I expressed to the priest why I haven't been to mass is because I cannot receive on the tongue. He told me to just make sure I'm the last one in line. It was fine for the next few Sundays. But on Divine Mercy Sunday (yesterday) the Msr flat out refused then turned his back on me and ignored me like I wasn't even there. He wrecked me. He utterly wrecked me. I was left standing there not knowing what to do or think in front of the whole parish. It's the next day and it still stings terribly.

"the evil Novus Ordo". DO you realize WHAT you are calling evil? You are calling the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Ordinary Form evil ---- THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS. The un bloody Re-presentation of Jesus' sacrifice and death on the cross you are calling evil. PLEASE don't EVER say this again. The Mass where an ordained Priest through the Grace of God Consecrates bread and wine and it becomes the Body Blood Soul Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ you are calling evil. If only we could know for sure when we are being disobedient and when we are not. I took my mask off in church shortly before receiving the Eucharist, and the reason was that I was having a hard time breathing and was feeling light headed (I have allergy/sinus issues).....at first I just uncovered my nose but that didn't help much, so I just took it off, and figured it was ok since everyone is sitting soooo far apart from each other, but according to an usher lady the NEXT Sunday, the priest said it WAS NOT ok, so I said I can only cover my mouth because of my problem breathing, and after arguing back and forth with her and one other lady they said they will ask the priest if its ok, and they made sure that I did not go inside until they got the ok.....thankfully the priest gave the ok (was a better priest) that I only cover my mouth.

R R The Church whom is the Bride of Our Blessed Lord Jesus allows the laity to receive the Holy Eucharist in our hands. Therefore, it is not profane. It is more reverent to receive on the tongue. We are called to obedience to the Pope and to the Bishops. To not be obedient is to lose ones catholicity and become protestant. We then must repent and confess our sin of pride to come back to our Catholicity and communion with the Church, with Jesus. If a Priest, Bishop or even the Pope himself told us that we could not receive on the tongue, but only on the hand, God would value our obedience to that clergyman more than our desire to receive on the tongue.

There is so much change happening especially in our Catholic Church. I felt so estrange but I prayed to the Holy Spirit for guidance and understanding. As an obedient child to be under the protection of a parent, I submitted and accepted the Holy Host by hand. It dawned unto me, that it’s not so much about the way I received but tears flowed unknowingly because of my thirst or longing for the Holy Eucharist. The priest is making contact from one set of hands to another to another. One person comes into the church, wipes their face, sneezes into their hand, etc. of course communion on the tongue is much less of an infectious risk. For me personally though communion in the hand is sacrilege. It is to Jesus as well. No matter what changes were “introduced “ into the church.

Kevin Rocky you can find a so called professional to say just about anything. You need to READ how they decided this. I can guarantee you this is not the product of scientific research, it will just be their opinion. And as such it is not ‘expert’ whatever their qualifications are. It is just their opinion. If we have to rely on opinion, and that is all we have, let’s use logic. So, on the tongue, you have a very real chance of accidental touching of the tongue and saliva. On the hand, you can place the host down onto the hand with no risk of contact, and even if you touch, it is still far less risky than the mouth where saliva, and the virus, lives. Also, people are meant to sanitize their hands immediately before they rise to take Communion. Ushers should enforce this, and they do. At least for awhile, the hands of the communicants are germ free anyway. However, you cannot sanitize the mouth, lips, tongue and breath. Even if there is no touching, the priests hand is being breathed on with every communicant. The virus is transmitted by ‘aerosol’, which means microscopic saliva droplets in the air we breathe out. This is increased when we speak. Like as every communicant says Amen. On the hand, the communicant receives while wearing his mask, steps aside, lifts the mask momentarily, and places the host in his mouth. Really, simple logic tells you there is more risk on the tongue. The Church knows this, that is why we have stopped Communion on the tongue during the pandemic. These ‘experts’ are wrong by simple common sense that anyone can work out for themselves if they have an open mind and seek the truth. Please, this is temporary. Just do it for everyone’s sake.

I know some orthodox churches have a common spoon for each person wouldn’t this be safe too? Here is a quote from Saint Thomas Aquinas, he is a doctor of the church and one of the most reliable, on any theological or doctrinal issue: “because out of reverence towards this sacrament, nothing touches it, but what is consecrated; hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest's hands, for touching this sacrament. That is what happened to me an old woman, on her arthritic knees. I loudly told the priests about Canan Law, Three times (!) I asked him, and three times he said no. I slowly with tears made a spiritual communion, got up, left the angry priest and the Lord Jesus came powerfully into my heart and soul. Besides my first Holy Communion, this was probably the most holy one I ever received. I was a faithful witness. My heart aches for that child and for the pain of the Father. Our own have become our first persecutors. I had a number of angry reactions from the parishioners afterwards, some trying to tell me how it is alright on the tongue, but there were others who quietly followed me out the door to a parish with a better, young NO priest and to the Sunday TLM. Can you imagine, if Bishop Solis does not repent, what standing before Almighty God will be like some day? What he did to that child, that father? Father and child in Salt Lake City I keep ypou in my prayers, stay strong, endure and you will be given the shining heavenly crown. I am in awe of your witness and you give me strength and hope.

How sad especially this little girl. I know the feeling. On the 19th of this July, a deacon denied me Communion on the tongue and I decided not to receive in the hand. Later after Mass one of my daughter's Eucharist minister told me she tried to give me a hint but I told her I didn't notice and besides, I had made a vow never to do that again. Since then, she is receiving on the tongue during daily Mass at another Church where they have the option. Actually, this same lady reported it to the pastor as he was waiting outside to greet parishioners and he said that should never have happened. I don't even now wish to receive from a deacon or a Eucharist minister. Praying Communion rails will return and Latin Mass as well.

Is this priest afraid he's going to contract COVID or something? I'm not Catholic, but I've gone to Mass plenty of times with my Catholic girlfriend. During Communion, she and I have always received the Eucharist on our tongues.

The priest has precisely zero check marks in authority to deny a sacrament to anyone in a state of Grace. And it, unless it’s a public figure who commits/promotes public sin, he has no right to deny a sacrament. Secondly, no bishop has the authority to deny communion on the tongue. Canon 92 specifically states that the faithful have the right to receive communion on the tongue. Denying a sacrament to any one of the faithful is a big (no gigantic) no-no. If that priest stands in between a child and Jesus...well you know the Gospel.

The same church is doing the most damage to the already fragil church. My wife and I went to a church about a month ago (not our parish) but sometimes you go somewhere out of town on a Sunday and you don't want to miss mass, so we went to this other catholic church, and my wife and I were the only ones that received the comunion in the mouth. I know because we waited till last. The priest did not denied it to us but at the end when mass was ended, he stood at the door saying goodbye to people, well he did not even make aye contact with us. I felt really bad... is this what our church has degrated to??? This video just makes my heart ache.. my son is about to do his first comunion next week, and I just saw myself in that dad with his daughter. This is just- im loss of words. Yeah I understand they encourage you to receive on the "hand" but they cannot denied it like that!!! Are they afraid of catching the virus and dying??? I dont know but the same church is coming to self destruction. But its our fault as parishioners for allowing the distribution of our Lord's body as a vitamin. "On the hand".. So shame on us!!! And shame on those priests for denying what is rightly undeniable by the Grace of God thru the sacraments!!!

You are making a big thing out of nothing. Communion in the hand has been acceptable for many years. And right now, there is a very good reason not to give Communion on the tongue. Think of other peoples' health instead of your own unsubstantiated superstitions. If the Pope and the Vatican have authorised Communion in the hand, who are you to set yourself up as superior?

@@janesnow3633 There is no question reception on the tongue is a more perfect external action, and in greater congruence to the doctrine of the Eucharist; which is why it developed. This paragraph you copy and paste everywhere is missing key points, the most obvious being Memoriale Domini, the first document responding to the illicit practise of reception in the hand and then (unlike any ancient practise) dispensing the Sacred Host to yourself with your unconsecrated fingers, in which the bishops of the world agreed with what I said above.

What is the secret of Fatima says?does it says that there will be a virus and that all Christians should work around without a mask or defying what the authority ask them to do?. I do not think so. We people we are fighting over everything. Many of us is so selfish that only their fantasies count. God is wise and true Christian should be and should try to do the same. In the video for what I can see it looks like the priests talk to them and say something like they will be back. For some reasons the person putting the video just put this part not the whole thing so I can confirm my understanding. However, i believe the priest should give them the communion and maybe talk to them after mass if they think something is wrong. Because denying them communion like that is also wrong and confusing. But you know sometimes we human being do some unbelievable thing that makes no sense.
