I live in the Tyler Diocese and am concerned. Please continue to pray for our diocese and the TLM community which is quite large. Our current church is very very small and cannot hold all the large families who attend Mass. With winter here and families with small children who have to listen to Mass outside, where is the compassion for them? Based on TC we should be allowed to use the high school chapel but the diocese has refused.

Stop going to a parish because of the rite they use for Mass. that’s not Catholic. Christ is present in all.

@@michaelspeyrer1264 That statement is not Catholic. You probably define the Mass as an "assembly" not understanding what you are even saying. Do your homework.

I had the great privilege of knowing Bishop Kelly when I attended Holy Trinity Seminary where he lived for a time. Wonderful man who is very down to earth and absolutely loves the Lord and loves to serve the people. He will do a great job as Bishop of the Diocese of Tyler.

I was at All Saints parish in Dallas when Fr Greg Kelly was one of the three priests assigned there back in the 1990’s. I recall him as friendly, someone who would not ruffle any feathers. He was made pastor of St Gabriel In McKinney, Texas and I did hear he was having parishioners stand when they should have been kneeling at some point in the Mass. I am in the Tyler, Texas Diocese now and truly love Bishop Strickland. He was a true shepherd. From what I have been reading about Bishop Kelly, my bet is that he will be friendly and calm but he will tow the Francis line without question. We are just going to pray for him and for our diocese.

Firstly, although I'm a firm believer in Galatians 3:28, it is so great and refreshing to see another black man not only in the Church, but speaking about it publicly. God bless you brother and keep up the good work! I'm an Anglican Patrimony Catholic (The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter), in full communion with Rome, and love the reverence we have in the Divine Worship Mass. Bishop Lopes is big on maintaining tradition. If you have an OCSP parish nearby pay us a visit. I've found the lack of reverence in some diocesan parishes troubling. The apathy present in some parishes reminds me of the same that pushed me to study Church history and ultimately leave Protestantism. I pray for a return to reverence and tradition across the Catholic Church. Gloria in excelsis Deo!

@tonyl3762 +JMJ. Let's see, would that be Bergoglio's repeated insistence that any religion other than the holy Catholic and Apostolic faith can lead you to salvation? Or was it the swaddling of the Infant King in a keffiyah? Or perhaps the normalization of Holy Communion for unrepentant sinners? Perhaps when he stated that the Church is spotted rather than the Spotless Bride of the Lord? Or is it new teachings generated by synods that include non ordained men and women? A program? For what I've seen from Bergoglio, who needs to follow a pope or the Church? Don't you see how absurd you sound? He is implementing the radical vision of V2 that is alien to the Catholic faith. He has separated himself from the Church. Ironically, he's the schismatic. He routinely flouts or manipulates the very words of the Lord and the Apostles. Apparently St. Paul according to Bergoglio got it wrong on sins of the flesh. You're a mortal, hyperpapal sinner if you defend Bergoglio. That doesn't even take into account his cover up of sexual abuse that if committed in America would be indictable as felonies. Bergoglio doesn't need Bishop Strickland or anyone else to undermine Church unity. He and the devil are doing grave damage.

God appoints leaders, He does not appoint critics of those leaders. These appointments are not for us to approve or not which is why we are supposed to pray for our clergy…and read scripture such as Matt 18:18 (authority) or Phil 2:5-10 (obedience).

The Dallas Diocese Bishop did make some questionable decisions during COVID, which I don’t attribute to Bishop Kelly. He’s a humble man. You can grasp his personality from diocesan Sunday Masses on this platform. I don’t know his take on the Latin Mass, but I know that he has cared for the spiritual development of folks throughout our diocese, regardless of our unique spiritual practices. My NO parish nearby has more orthodox practices than most, sadly without the TLM. Many have turned to the two non-diocesan churches in our diocese. I pray that Bishop Kelly allows the TLM, even with minor time restrictions, which we had in our diocese before it was removed. I have faith in Texas Catholics over many other state natives, no offense with my living in Colorado for a few years. Thanks for your work. 🙏🏻❤️✝️

What do you mean by "unique spiritual practices"?
@BrocaSpeaks22 күн бұрын
@ More to do with cultural differences. The American Indian and Mexican American cultures are predominant in my parish, but not without a reverence for the Eucharist. Kneelers are available for those who want to kneel when receiving the Eucharist. Our pastor used to offer the Latin Mass at a previous parish before it was sadly canceled in all parishes. I hope this answers your question.

@@michaelspeyrer1264 TBH, it’s not so much me but the communities that I care about both in my diocese, which the Tyler diocese once encompassed. I feel the emotions of others, and while that is not what is important since Jesus is always present, it is sometimes what people rely on to keep the Faith. Many moved to the Tyler diocese because of the TLM, and as a Serran, it resulted in record numbers of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, which in practical terms, we greatly need. I represented young adults at the Third Continental Congress on Vocations 22 years ago, so I tend to look at - and feel - the state of the church macroscopically. If nearby communities like those in the Tyler Diocese are feeling distressed, I feel it too.

I think there is a pride /arrogance that can take place in one's heart when one only kneels to receive the Eucharist. I normally kneel before the priest to receive, but I do feel a sense of humility when I stand and receive in the hand from one of the EM's. After all, who am I to say no to the way God wants to come into my life?
@Neb-ie5mj20 күн бұрын
I hadn’t thought about this perspective. I’d just like us all to go back to kneeling on the tongue. For consistency. On the hand is obviously allowed by the Church, it just seems to me that it leads to more abuses.

@patrickparsons237820 күн бұрын
The 'pope' is a heretic and indeed an apostate, so calling him out publicly as such is what a bishop should do. The bishop is first and foremost a watchtower for his people against heresy, a protector against threats and enemies of the faith. If that threat and enemy hapoens to also calk to be pipe, it is the obligation if a bishop to publicly admonish him a d call in his to repent his heresies and to return to the Faith. As Bergoglio has cobdistabtly failed to repent his heresies and apostasy then any bishop who calls him out is righteous and faithful to Christ, and his admonishments are acts of caritas.

@@patrickparsons2378 No, Bp Strickland did not follow the humble and prudent path in addressing his concerns about/with the Pope. Only after attempting to understand and dialogue could a bishop be able to express their opinion that a Pope has taught error in their nondefinitive magisterium but without the inflammatory and imprudent language of heresy. Various cardinals have handled the situation much better.
