Nothing beats the combination of orchestral string sounds, a gong, a church bell, tinkly pianos, a fretless bass, brilliant harmonies and a lap steel guitar. 😊😊 This song puts one so much in a trance. The band Nightwish and former Genesis and Stiltskin singer Ray Wilson each did a version of this one. 🙂

In my 58 years of life I have been to 100's of concerts. I seen the Division Bell tour in Ames, Iowa at Cyclone Stadium, an open air football (American) stadium. I attended this show with my ex-wife and it still is one of my favorite concerts to this day.

@yelnikigwawa1845 Yeah, too bad he is making the same album over and over. How do I know. I keep listening to everything he puts out because I want to see his brilliance again. It died with Pink Floyd. A man like Roger Waters needs another trusted person to keep him from following his own worst base instincts. Roger would not allow this, which is common for men like him. Edit: I assume you just know the lyrics weren't written by Waters but by Gilmour's wife, Polly?

Love this song. They put it at the end of the album so we'd been through the whole story, all the emotions of being alone, wishing things were different, finding your person, problems communicating and a failure to reconcile, and then we get here. I can't even imagine a band of their time doing it... somehow they transcended whatever genre they were into something else... I think the closest music to effect the emotional core of the listener would have to be some classical composers maybe - they have a lot more in common with a classical piece than they do to the stones or someone like that - their music.. their chord choices and changes .the blending of the singers into and out of the instrumentation - is not even for the ear so much as the core. yeaars ago I had heard that their first gigs.. was providing music for lightshows - - I think everything cascades down from that

I want to go back too! I was lucky to see this tour in Foxboro MA, believe me, we felt just like you are in this reaction. Pink Floyd just has a way of grabbing your soul, floating is a way of life when listening to them, for me since I was shocked by Ummagumma in 1969, no one was doing anything like them. I saw them 4 times, they never let you down as far as expecting brilliance and then they would exceed all expectations. Seeing them do Echoes in the old Boston Garden in the 70s was amazing, David Gilmour sat on the stage next to his special effects pedals and rack and literally sent us into space. Much of the crowd in as tripping, it was an unforgettable experience. More Floyd! How about Echoes? Studio original, then Live at Pompeii 1972 and finally, David Gilmour did it live with Rick Wright of Floyd in 2006 at Gdansk, Poland, it was the last time they played it live together and all 3 versions are unforgettable. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥

I have seen thousands of concerts and live performances, but nothing comes close to this concert. As wild as Pink is with her stage props and performances, as energetic as Bruno Marcs is with his use of all the stage and instruments, as awesome as Rush was in R40, as energetic as Van Hallen was live, as wonderful as Fleetwood Mac & The Eagles were, as fun as Billy Squire and Jimmy Buffet were, as immersive as The Grateful Dead were, they all fall way way short of Pink Floyd, in fact, Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder tour is the only concert that measures within the same universe, followed by Pink Floyd's Wall as well as Roger Waters' Wall concerts. The attention to detail, the amount of greatness, the epic songs, and the dedication to the audience's experience, are unrivaled in decades of other's attempts. Do your soul a favor, and watch the whole concert from start to finish, only pausing between songs to gather yourself for the next. You will not be disappointed in the use of time.
