Not true. Roger sang around A4 here. Which Freddie also sang quite a lot in this performance, in the first verse Freddie also sang a Bb4, which is a semitone higher then A4. The highest note on this performance is Freddie with two G#5, that is almost one full octave higher then the A4.

11:00 not only his own guitar solo, but it was played on his own guitar. Back when they were starting out, he didn't have money to buy a guitar so he and his dad built one out of a very old fireplace mantel, motorbike springs and his mom's knitting needle back in 1964. He uses the same guitar on stage for most songs even today ( plus some replicas in case the strings break on the real one, which will be used for one or two songs until his tech restrings it backstage. )

so glad you recognized roger taylor's(the drummer) vocals. so many people react to this and only see Freddie. Roger has to harmonize with one of the greatest vocalist of all time and he not only holds his own but stands out. brian may is no joke on the vocals as well. there is no backing vocalist or band its just the 4 members of Queen, the greatest band ever. And i say that with them not being my favorite band(GnR). but their diversity and skill level is unmatched

Amazing reaction, and I have to say, it's refreshing to see someone paying atention to the band, not only Freddie (even if Freddie was more than great, Queen would have failed if any of the four were missing from this, because all of them played an integral part on its success). So, I'll put some more information for you: The drummer, Roger Meddows Taylor, was "Queen's secret weapon", like someone else commented here (I'm on the mobile, so, I'm sorry, I'm not closing this to look for the name, but I liked it, it fits his role pretty well). He has this super high voice, and his falsettos are fabulous. Even today, as an old man, he still has this amazing high raspy voice, even if the falsettos are now lost (his smoking sadly did it). He still has a voice of an angel, and his drumming and guitar playing is a work in its own. And his songwiting is wonderful, he made many great Queen songs. Oh, and just a little trivia, his guitar collection is actually the biggest of the entire band (even Brian, the guitarrist himself, can't match its sheer numbers. I did read they're still competing over it, by the way). John Richard Deacon is a wonderful bassist, a great songwriter (he didn't write as many as Freddie and Brian, but almost all his songs became successful hits) and basically is the typical shy "normal person" on such a band as Queen. However, he was the one behind almost every important decision of the band. He was normally the calm part who decided the winner on a fight, or could totally stop the band on their tracks if he sensed something wouldn't work. He's a financist at heart and even today, retired as he is, John still takes care of the band's finances. He also invented the amp both he and Brian use, the Deacy Amp, and it's actually one of the best amps on the market today (after many years, with John's blessings, Brian let some specialists open and restore it, and patented the mark on John's name). His only frustration is, according to him, "he couldn't sing" (people used to suggest he could get some lessons from Freddie, and his answer was "it's even worse if it's him, I can't start comparing to that!"). By the way, that's actually a lie, he has an adorably uplifiing singing voice, as we can see in some very special momments where he actually won against his shyness and sang alongside the band... or the rare instances when the mic on his side was accidently left on. The guitarrist, Brian Harold May, has an unique guitar playing skill, like his handmade guitar and his amazing and endless songwritting skill. He also plays a tons of different string instrumments, like the harp of Love Of My Life and he also plays piano as well (Freddie loved it, because Brian could get to the piano in shows for Freddie to "play the audience"). However, he's a wonderful singer too. Even when Freddie and Roger smoked to get the "raspy" tinge to their voices, so desired in a "rockstar voice", Brian totally refused to do it (his dad smoked himself to death, he never smoke and was very against it since forever). So, his defiance mainted his voice clear as a crystal. He has a wonderful soft voice, lower than the others, very tuned (to the point of, without meaning to, completely exposing Luciano Pavarotti's semitunes when they sang together), but he can raise it almost as much as Freddie and Roger could, and the 3 of them worked on harmonies perfectly. If Freddie's throat wasn't good during a show (a problem he always had), Brian and Roger could always get the vocals for as long as needed for him to recover and get to it again. On Live Aid, Freddie was advised by medics to not perform, and now we know, all 3 were ready to get to the mics for him at any momment (even Mr-I-can't-sing-John-Deacon sang on Radio Ga Ga and made the song's choir even more uplifting). Freddie didn't need it, but they were ready just in case. That's one of the wonderful things about Queen. They always acted as a single unit, they protect each other even today, and are always ready to stop everything to help eachother. For example, remember when I said John was behind Queen's financial decisions? The entire band actually broke contract with Trident when they refused to pay John (his just married wife was pregnant and he tried to buy a home for their family, just to discover he wasn't paid a single cent, even being one of the most successful musicians at that time). The band broke relationships with Norman Shefield when he dared to suggest they could just replace Brian when he was dying on hepatitis, and continue touring America without him, and refused to treat him in America to boost, even when he was swimming on the band's money and with a shiny new car (actually putting Brian's life at risk, because the band had to endure a looong fly back to London for him to receive the first medical care, an aditional time that almost cost him his arm and his life). And they totally obliterated every single person who slurred Freddie and his memory (including some very close friends). That's what true friendship looks like.

What is almost never commented on is that when Freddie holds onto the word "Lord" (6:04 in this reaction), the feedback from Brian's guitar is in tune with the vocals, thus providing another 'voice'. To have that sort of control to produce that is quite remarkable. This is just another example of the complex and rich sound just the four of them made live.

@terolah 2 жыл бұрын
It's funny how their performance is so well tuned that even small problems don't get noticed. It seems that no reaction video seems to notice that Freddie's impromptu audience interaction is actually about Brian having some trouble with his guitar. You can see Brian walking to his guitar technician and when Freddie sees that, he starts to entertain the audience and buy some time. You can also see him checking on Brian and as he returns, Freddie moves on with the song. So well executed that no-one seems to realise what happened...

You're wrong. That's not what happened. Brian knew that Freddie was beginning his part of the song where he interacts with the audience and kind of freestyles a little. So he knew he had time to go tweak the guitar a little bit because he must have noticed the sound was a little off. All he did was take advantage of a minute he had. Freddie was doing that either way.

Same concert, DRAGON ATTACK. Every band member has a shining moment in the spotlight . The lyrics will seem cryptic but reflect their time in Munich with its wild club life and intense studio time with Reinhold "Mack", their producer. Freddie's alpha persona is center stage. The studio version is a gloriously extended version for the ears.

I would highly recommend you to watch two official documentaries one is "days Of our life" and "the Great pretender". forget the film Bohemian Rhapsody, because what is a film with a film script and not a documentary. 👍🏻

The Greatest Front man and band in the history of music people will still be talking about and listening to queen and freddie in another 100 years probably the only band and lead singer that actually sounded better live with no Autotune or any other post production effect... just pure raw talent from the entire band.

No question regarding Queen. Do check out live recordings of other bands though because there's a ton of classic rock bands who outperformed their recordings on a regular basis.

Great performance choice and great reaction. Bisscute - at some points it was like you were making love to the music 😊 your whole body was involved. That's how a really great singer, rhythm and song can touch you, and Freddie had that passion and yes, a seductive energy and charisma. The whole band created a complete sensual experience for the mind, eyes, ears and body here! A rare thing to find these days and no drum machines, no auto-tune, just pure talent! I'm glad to have grown up with great music and bands like this to form my youth, and so pleased to see younger generations feeling the same excitement and joy from the experience too! 🤩

This as all of their songs, in my opinion, are better live. I was them on this tour, for the Game album, in September of 1980 at Madison Square Garden. I also saw them again at the Garden in 1982. I strongly request you react to another song from this show. It's called "Save Me", it was a new song off the Game album, in fact the very last track. You won't be disappointed, trust me young lady. I've recommended it to other reactors and it blew their minds. A little Queen trivia each member, Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, all have at least one #1 hit.

Consider for a moment, that the lyrics can be taken two different ways. Freddie could be asking for "somebody to love", looking for a partner. Considering he was bisexual and a rock star, it was a struggle to find anyone to share a true moment or emotion with. But then consider also that he struggled with serious issues of depression, self esteem, and self-doubt. He could be asking if "anybody can find ME, somebody to love". Doubting that he is worthy of anyone loving him, asking if anyone could find him worthy of being loved. I've loved this song for years, but that new way of looking t it has brought it even close to my heart, as someone who also struggles with depression.

Of course none of us have seen every live act that ever was. But surely Queen must be one of the best, if not the best. I understand they had the best equipment money could buy, and the best sound technicians. Obviously. But still. It remains a mystery how four guys could reproduce this music live, and leave the audience feeling they just heard the best version of all the songs. It has a lot to do with three of them being excellent vocalists. But mostly it is to do with their musicianship and how extraordinarily well they played together. Add Freddie’s unsurpassed showmanship, and you have a show for the ages.

Just a warning: don't take the movie Bohemian Rhapsody as anything close to the reality of Queen and Freddie's story, it's very much a dramatisation.
