It's so great to have someone as positive, analytical, and thoughtful as American HODL in the bitcoin space.
@abrahamnorthhampton332710 ай бұрын
One of my favorite things about this podcast is listening to Peter talk about his hometown, how proud he is of it, and how much he wants to do to for his town and the citizens. This resonates with me, living in a big city but ready to return to my own Bedford (in America) to be close to family and friends, and to help maintain the town's vitality.
@christinewillis754510 ай бұрын
You have no idea how much comfort and admiration you inspire Peter. You help me NOT to panic, especially with Wall St and RWA wreaking havoc in the Bitcoin/crypto world. The impact you have in putting Bedford on the map and sharing it with your guests and us through your podcasts makes me want to try something like that in my little bubble. Good work great guest.

Great Show from Pete and the WBD team as always ! Have to say that American Hodl comes across as quite ignorant with his comments about Europe, the US and freedom of speech only being a thing in the US. Felt like Peter wanted to move on from those topics and avoid pushing back, maybe because he didn't want to offend American Hodl.
@egidijusb150110 ай бұрын
What do you expect from a guy that has never left the US? I can't imagine being this rich and not wanting to experience the world. Typical American living in his bubble.
@slop12345678910 ай бұрын
As someone who's travelled the world extensively including the US, America felt far from the freest country I've visited. The food system is poisoned and made me gain weight from just a few weeks of living there, there's a huge inter-generationally ghettoised population who lack even the most basic freedoms such as clean drinking water, decent food, education, etc., the economic and political systems are much more predatory and unfair than most other developed countries and you can really notice it. Contemporary America is less and less "exceptional" in the ways HODL thinks it is (his opinion is not worth much on this anyway given he's never left the country), however it does rank number one in obesity, deaths of despair, fentanyl usage, incarceration, gun violence, not exactly things I'd be thumping my chest about.

@bujin545510 ай бұрын
1:09:10. I'm bullish AF, but American HODL is just dumb with this comment. We have a handful of months of data, so what it's been very consistent? It's called pent up demand. The question is, will the demand still be constant after the pent up demand has been flushed through the system, and the price has risen a multiple? We don't know, and the fact it's been consistent for a few months since the launch means NOTHING.

"The fix could be as bad, or worse than the problem." This was my thought on the ordinal situation as well. It has also basically died down on it's own - as is generally the case with fads in crypto. Not worried about the big players coming in either. a) It was never the plan to try to stop them as evidenced by the compete lack of any requisite mechanism on any level. As in, permissionless. b) You don't change bitcoin, bitcoin changes you.

The biggest problem I have identified around this conversation around Bitcoin is that there is a strong (or strong enough) demand to have use cases operating fully secure and decentralised, yet it appears, so far, to be near as impossible to reproduce. Hence this creates a demand signal to leverage the unicorn (so to speak) network that is already exists.
