Just because mania uses similar rhythm, does not mean they were intentional. Thousands upon thousands of songs use the same rhythm, that does not mean they are referencing each other. This goes the same with chord progressions.

It Doesn’t Matter: Sonic’s message to the world that he doesn’t care what happens, he’ll just get through it with a smile Believe in Myself: Tails believes in his own abilities and probes he’s more than just a sidekick E.G.G.M.A.N: Eggman, with his unmatched ego, is more than proud to spell out his name for you Fly in the Freedom: Rouge doesn’t let herself get tied down by anyone, thus she’s free to fly where she wants to Supporting Me: Shadow holds onto his confidence to in the final battle, knowing that from being the grave, Maria is supporting him. Song titles are important and say a whole lot. (But tbh, idk what the hell Unknown from M.E. means)

good video! sonic adventure in particular has a lot of nods to its own songs that I like. twinkle circuit uses a different version of it doesn't matter for quite a bit of the song, windy valley act 2 has speed highway act 1's melody later into the song, and the chaos 6 boss theme has bits of open your heart. there's others too (including similar stuff in adventure 2) but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head right now. if you're planning on making another video like this on sonic I'd recommend giving both of the adventure soundtracks a full listen sometime to see what you can spot, there's a lot of parts of the songs in those games that you don't actually hear while playing!

Here's a super obscure fact: As we all know, Sonic CD has 4 versions of every sing (Present, Past, Good Future, and Bad Future). But not many people know that the past remixes were made using the Sega Genesis'/Master Drive's soundchip! A nice refrence to how cartridge games were becoming tech of the PAST and the CDs were the new norm for the time of Sonic CD.
@draconicruns
@draconicruns 4 ай бұрын
That's because they weren't, they were made with the CD's own sample-based sound chip, which is more similar to the audio of the SNES

id be interested to see mega man! that series is full of musical references where character names are concerned, so it'd be interesting to see if the actual in-game music is the same! i know there are definitely some interesting self-references, like the black devil boss from X5's theme being a callback to the wily boss theme from the very first game!

Man, whenever I think of music in video games, I somehow keep going back to Left 4 Dead 2 of all things. I think the closest connection I can make to those kinds of music (subtle references by songs in other songs) is in the Dark Carnival campaign. When you play one of the various minigames in the carnival, a jolly old-school carnival tune will play. If you listen closely, you’ll realize that this is actually the Left 4 Dead 2 main menu theme playing but with a more “carnival circus” vibe to it.

Really liked this video! A lot of info in here was stuff I didn't know about :o As for other Sonic music trivia... Main ones that come to mind is the Biolizard's theme (Supporting Me) including a bit of Live & Learn, The ARK in Shadow the Hedgehog being a remix of Final Rush from SA2, and the JP opening to Sonic CD (You Can Do Anything) and Mecha Green Hill from Sonic Chaos being remixes of Green Hills Zone from Sonic 2 8-Bit

To be fair flying battery act 2 slaps like the nice energy flow at the end of the loop is always a treat , but it was alway even better to remaster 😂

leaving a comment just to give you some KZbin Viewer Engagement. Very nice video, learned a couple new things even though I’m a sonic FREAK. And also you’re good at making the funnies 💜
