I think the Kirby series would be good for this because they have a *lot* of musical Easter eggs. Most of the franchise is composed by the the same two people, and they often turn songs into leitmotifs that they'll use a lot. For example, the little song that plays in the cutscene after you defeat Marx in Kirby Super Star, Kirby s Triumphant Return, is used in a lot of climactic moments in the Kirby series, like in Fly! Kirby of the Stars, C-R-O-W-N-E-D, and Vs. Star Dream (this one specifically is a quote from Havoc Aboard the Halberd, which itself uses Kirby's Triumphant Return)

that one descending motif in robobot makes me cry
@martinmnagell28942 жыл бұрын
Green Greens alone is an incredibly complicated piece in terms of its usage. It's existed in every Kirby game and all Kirby games after Planet Robobot (aside from Dream Buffet at the time of writing) have been some remix of the Robobot version of Green Greens. Green Greens is also present in every final boss theme as far as I'm aware (once again aside from Forgotten Land at the time of writing). (Side note: they really went out of their way to use very little of the older motifs in Forgotten Land to really show that you're in another world.) As for all the motifs you have Mt. Dedede, New World, Galacta/Morpho Knight, and the ones mentioned above. Then theres also how many tracks have these motifs because of their relevance in the lore (which is a whole other can of worms that I really love getting into) As for the main names of people who have influenced Kirby music, their year of joining HAL and when they really started making a difference to the series music: Hirokazu Ando, joined 1991, was there from the start of Kirby (major influence on Kirby and Smash sound track) Jun Ishikawa, joined 1990, was there from the start of Kirby (major influence on Kirby sound track) Shogo Sakai, joined 1996, started working with Smash Melee, Nightmare in Dreamland, Air Ride (pretty big influence on both Kirby and Smash sound track) If there is one thing that I think makes Kirby special and different from other games is that you can clearly feel the love HAL has for their adorable pink puffball of a child.

One of my favorite bits of music trivia in the Sonic series is how "Green Hills Zone" (not Green HILL zone) from the Game Gear/Master System version of Sonic 2 includes essentially a full 8-bit version of "You Can Do Anything" which would appear a year later in Sonic CD's Japanese soundtrack. I don't think that one's very obscure but I thought it was neat. Another subtle bit of a trivia (or subtle for me at least) is the piano that plays at the beginning of "Never Turn Back" from Shadow the Hedgehog, being that it's a piano version of the chorus to "I Am... All of Me" from the same game. I don't know if that one is as obscure but I didn't notice it at first until I saw someone who had pointed it out. However, a very noticeable musical reference is in Episode II of Sonic 4, in White Park Act 2 there's a small portion of the song that sounds identical to Pleasure Castle (Twinkle Park) from Sonic Adventure, so there's some more Sonic Adventure ties for ya. To delve even further on this, Twinkle Park itself is a song recycled from another song found in a demo take for Sonic 3D Blast, being an unused Knuckles Bonus Stage theme. So, just in case Sonic 3D Blast didn't have enough musical influence on the series as well as Sonic Adventure, there's another one that's maybe a little more unknown. Lastly, I want to address something that, if I remember correctly, I stumbled into on my own by accident. In Sonic Gems Collection, there are many unlockable songs that you can play in that collection's museum. The unlockable track I want to talk about is "Sonic 2690 Mix" which at first might seem to be it's own unique remix related to Sonic CD made for this collection, however the song has an origin that is traced back before Sonic CD was even released. The track seemingly originates from a promotional video for Sonic CD through "SEGA Video Magazine" which were VHS cassettes distributed only in Japan and showed off upcoming games for Sega consoles at the time. Sonic Gems Collection has another unlockable song called "Sonic After 2690 Mix" however I'm unsure if the song also comes from another one of these "video magazines." Just a handful of songs I thought had interesting trivia, awesome video as always Bizabizow!

Here's a piece of Michael Jackson related trivia that's also related to the movie: Speed Life, the song used for the French dub of the movie, lifts the main chorus from Rockwell: Somebody's Watching Me (1984). This may seem rather odd at first, but given that Michael Jackson provided guest vocals for the original song (and it's his portion specifically that's lifted), not unlike his contributions to the soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994), it can be considered a full circle tribute.

A little tidbit i think would help this series is if you always state which part of the tracks you play that we should listen to (melody, baseline, chords, drums/beat etc.) as it's always hard for me to tell which part of a track you want us to listen to Sometimes you do specify beforehand when you mention 'they are similar melodically' or 'they took the bass part of this track', but often times you just say you noticed a similarity or that a track as been repurposed or has a reference, without saying what part of the track needs to be paid attention to I noticed this more with the mario tracks since they often would use the same styling or composition as opposed to the same melody, which, of course, is the easiest to listen to and recognise This led to a lot of going back and relistening during those videos because i entirely missed the focus of musical trivia, which is a shame for them to be missed on a first watchthrough Keep making this amazing content and fingers crossed for less copyright bititng you in the ass!
