the two screen version of björk's black lake, taken from the album vulnicura.
shot on location in iceland by award-winning director andrew thomas huang, the ten minute long film for ‘black lake’ was commissioned by the museum of modern art, new york and debuted there earlier this year.
the film includes motifs from the icelandic landscape-caves, ravines, lava, and moss fields-and reflects ideas of pain, perishing, and rebirth. ‘black lake’ was realized in collaboration with the 3-d design firm autodesk, who worked along with david benjamin and the living on the installation at moma. ‘black lake’ was produced by andrew thomas huang’s uk based music video production company colonel blimp.

This is such an incredibly intensive song. I heard it several times before on the album itself, without videos -- the several "pauses" are just incredibly powerful and meaningful - and emotionally demanding, really. I can fully understand her being drained performing it. Now, with this video, there is an additional layer of both beauty and meaning. And it makes so much sense, without diminishing my original feelings - extremely well done! (It helps of course that both Bjork and Iceland continue to be visually stunning as well ! Nordic Beauty FTW!)

I remember seeing her exhibit In the MoMA. Their was a line to watch this in this exact format. It was frightening yet captaving. black lake' 10+emotional. by far one of the greatest heart felt, moveing videos ever done by her that ive ever seen too date. filmed in volcanic raw iceland...watching this is very emotional and moveing, the part when she's thumping her chest over and over again, as she 'jump starts' her shattered broken heart with the sound of 'flatline' is masterful. aged 49 in the 'black lake' video, she never fails and now she's 50 she still brings the emotion passion and raw power in her music.
