Got one question at about the 9:50 mark in the back ground shot is many of those trees in the shot are they dead on the stump? Just wndering from a cutter on the east coast in the central Appalachians. Since our trees are so different just wondering since most your trees are cone bearing trees I think I am not sure of what I am seeing. Wanting to learn about how things go in other regions that cut timber.
@neild79713 жыл бұрын
Some will be dead, most have probably just gone through a hard time though and just the tops have died back, cedars particularly, the lower 100’ will be green and new tops could be growing.
@BjarneButler3 жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of dead cedars naturally in an old growth forest. Especially cedar because the are high trot resistant so the stay standing long after they’re dead. Also the normally die from the top down so you’ll see lots of dead tops but lower down they still have live branches.

Another great video! Why don't you guys use air horns when you are dropping a tree?
@BjarneButler3 жыл бұрын
We’re never supposed to be within 2 tree lengths of another faller or other phases of logging. Plus you’d most likely not hear is with your own saw wide open in a cut. If there’s any concern then we’ll just call our co-worker over the radio
@OkanganMadViking2503 жыл бұрын
Some companies do But Bjarne is right, though. Simply because most of the time, the noise from all the equipment working or from other cutters in the area is so loud that it drains out other noises so it's just way more better an easier to do over the radio's

@@oscarmdog5275 ya I use the 390 for a 36” bar. Although I did use a 36” on the 572 in cedar on another job but that saw was modified a lot.
