Brock is a prime example of how professional athletes are a different breed than your typical human. His technique is superb of course, but his isometric strength has got to be second to none in that gym. It really makes a huge difference in being able to use your frames effectively without much fear of your opponent getting by them with ease. It's like his muscles are made out of granite and not watery meat sacks like the rest of us lol

This is exactly it. At first when I trained I thought okay maybe over time you can reach pro level. But no. For my game it actually has changed quite a lot. I'm 6'4 and when I started I wasn't in the best shape and was pretty heavy, like 230+. I got really used to using my weight to command the pace of the rolls, my favorite position was kesa gatame. Now I'm a purple belt and am 175 pounds, I find myself abusing my height way more by playing guard, my favorite position now is de la riva. I basically flipped from being a heavy smash player to a long legged guard player.

I went through the opposite transformation as you. I’m 6’3” and was probably about 190 lbs when I started about 10 years ago. I had a very active guard and was quite flexible. As I’ve aged I’ve lost a lot of flexibilty and mobility but I am significantly stronger and bigger at around 240 lbs. Now I much prefer the slower, more controlled style with lots of heavy pressure. It suits me better as I’ve gotten older and less mobile but much bigger and stronger.

Awesome vid as always, mate! So awesome to have been able to watch your channel grow. My game started out being all about arm and shoulder attacks - kimuras, americanas, head and arm chokes. I feel like this is probably the case for a lot of guys who are bigger and stronger than most of their opponents when they first start out since you can sometimes just out-muscle people. I really struggled with learning leg attacks. For whatever reason they just didn't click with me and I found myself having to do ten times as many reps as everyone else to try and wrap my head around them. So I decided to turn my biggest weakness into a strength and focused on legs. Now I'm known as our gym's token leg locker. I like the strategy and tactics involved in playing the leg game.

@chokeeartist2 жыл бұрын
4 years ? Like 2times a month? Lol jk but if your in side control u have tons of options arm bars , backtakes , Kimaru chokes , the key is to not have just 1 submission be super dominant it’s to have all these positions be technical enough to where you can get the submission, and if your submission attempt is being defended well you can quickly advance to a better position or another submission , just keep moving/rolling/flowing

Mostly for me I'm no longer glued to desperately hit that one submission I'm going for. Now I'm starting to set traps. My favorite is going for a cross-collar choke and switching to the armbar when they bring their arm up to defend. If that doesn't work, slip your leg between their arms so that when they try to stand up out of it, they're in a nice triangle 😉

Damn that’s a nice one mate, I will request the permission to use that hehe

@@ikrampicaso920 haha you bet! The armbar > triangle is really nice because your partner does all the work for you standing up and putting themselves in that position. All you need to do is slip your leg in there a bit. Then you just need to lock it up and you're golden!

I love his style of rolling probably because in terms of style its very similar to mine maybe it's an age and size thing. My only comment other than that is I wish you would change the title and some of the comments on the video. He's not making him look like a white belt he's just a bigger more experienced grappler. We always have to remember context and that belts and their meaning are different for different people: be it age, competing versus non competing, what level, size, strength, speed etc... world champion competitive black belts are at another level that doesn't make other black belts less deserving and they shouldn't be compared to white belts. There are competitive blue and purple belts out there who would absolutely destroy many black belts in a competition setting. Anyway, keep it up I like the videos and Brock's style and will get lots of info from watching.

I bet $5 neither of them would spar me by UFC nor street rules, because they know they cannot take a punch or kick from an Okinawan trained ranked fighter. Anyway, I've tapped a professional MMA fighter who had 20 professional wins and was a 2nd degree Black belt in Gracie Jiujitsu. I'm not impressed with these people. None of this crap works in no gi situations and none of it works when your opponent is punching you in the face with a 1000psi punch or kicking and kneeing you with a 2800psi kick or knee. IN a real street fight, anything goes, and this crap is not going ot help you when someone the size of Brock Lesnar attacks you and punches you in the face over and over while you try to "pull guard" or whatever. So you BETTER be able to throw a professional strength punch, elbow, knee, and kick of each basic type if you ever get in a real self-defense situation....and Jiujitsu practitioners almost never practice real striking. I've been to their dojos. Heck I was a 2 years member of a Gracie jiujitsu dojo and I tapped them out more often than not, and they flat out refused to spar me in stand-up when they saw how hard i could punch and kick a heavy bag back then.
